Chapter 13

Harry's POV

I rung the doorbell and stepped down two steps, jamming my hands into my pockets. I was pretty nervous about picking Grace up and introducing her family to my crazy life. I don't know why but I felt a little embarrassed about it. I was also nervous about attending the Brits, knowing we were nominated for a few awards that we would potentially win. Before the awards show we are usually briefed on whether we are likely or not to win an award so we have some time to think about a speech. Completely pointless because the shock and excitement of winning mixed with the fact you're standing in front of thousands of people mixed with the cameras and the reminder that you're being broadcasted to millions kind of takes your breath away and makes your mind go blank.

"Grace!" I heard her mothers shout through the door and couldn't help but smile. I wondered what she was wearing, she'd made a point not to tell me and I was excited to see. I smiled at the thought of her and Louise chatting away while she got ready. Louise was one of my close friends now and had been raving about Grace which came as a relief to me because if she didn't like her, she'd make sure to tell me and that would not have run because Grace wasn't going anywhere soon. She had come from Grace's to mine to style my hair and do some touch ups of make up on my face, and was going on about how fit she looked.
I was wearing a black and white patterned shirt with a blazer and dress trousers to go with that. My hair was styled up neatly, my usual style. It was a weird feeling to be taking a girl with me to the Brits. I know the rest of the boys were taking their girlfriends but they'd been together for years where as I met Grace about two weeks ago. I usually asked my mum or sister if they wanted to come but this year was different. I'd briefly spoken to my mum about Grace. She'd obviously seen the pictures online and in magazines and was obviously interested in my life and wanted to know more. I worked out that the less I told my mum about us, the more real it seemed as I never spoke to her about the other flings I'd had. It was a good thing because one person I couldn't lie to was my mum.

It was now Wednesday and not a lot had happened in the past few weeks or so between Grace and I, mainly because she had school. I was glad that Modest had given us a little break because it had been a lot at once and was surprisingly draining. I also wanted to get back to my own life and spend time with my actual friends. Louis had been teasing me about the fact I'd spent all my time with her and I felt shit because I couldn't tell him why.

Grace and I had been texting, which was good. No flirting, just a friendly conversation. It was fun getting to know her and so far she seemed to be a genuinely nice girl - someone I'd usually pick as one of my own friends.

A few seconds later Grace's mum opened the door and smiled widely.

"Hello love." She opened the door wider to let me in. "How are you? Come in, come in."

I obliged, stepping in to the door and being met by the warmth of the house. "I'm alright thanks, you?" I tried to be casual while maintaining my manners.

"Good, good. Grace is just upstairs, she should be down soon." She smiled and made her way over to the kitchen while I perched on the arm of the sofa.

"This is an unusual Wednesday night for me! I can't believe my daughter is going to the Brits." She made polite conversation but I could see how excited she was about it.

"Yeah, it's pretty crazy, right?" I replied with a chuckle.

"She does look absolutely amazing, Harry. She's not been this dressed up for a long time." As she spoke I became more and more intrigued to see a fully glammed Grace.

"I'm can imagine she looks stunning, I really can't wait to see."

"Just go down, stop being unsocial." Milly's voice caught both of our attention and we whipped out heads round to the stairs.
