The last chapter

We went home with so much joy in our hearts. Nakangiti ito all the way home,kahit ako ang saya ko sa nabalitaang hindi pala siya kasal kay Carrie. But even if kasal talaga kay Carrie wala naman silang intimate relation ni Brett, it really doesn't matter though but knowing that I'll be her wife soon at ako lang talaga at hindi pangalawa.

Walang mapaglagyan ang galak sa aming mga puso.

Our smile fade nang mapagtanto kung sino ang mga bisita ni Arra.

"Mama! Papa!... Granny and Grandpa is here!" Jared run to us with a wide smile.

A good looking old man behind his mother stood up. He is the old version of Brett, not to asked if it is his father because of their features.

"Son..." My heart skip a bit when he speak.

"Dad! What are you doing here?"
Brett asked in a bit serious tone. He went to him and pat his shoulder.
"Why didn't you tell us about our grandson?" May hinanakit nitong sabi.

"Ahm, I'm sorry Dad. I'm just protecting them." May tapang na sabi ni Brett.

"From whom?"

Napatingin si Brett sa ina, nag iwas naman ito ng tingin at yumuko. Wala ni katiting na tapang kunde napaka among awra. Ang dami kong gusto pansinin sa pagiging artista nito pero ayokong kumuntra. Makikiramdam nalang muna ako.

Hinawakan ng Mommy niya ang kamay ng asawa at nakiusap dito.

" Can we talk all without the kid?"
Mahina nitong sabi.

Nagkatinginan kaming lahat bago gumalaw. I asked Jared to say goodnight to his grandparents dahil alas nuwebe narin ng gabi at oras na ito ng pahinga niya.

Nalungkot naman ang mga matanda ngunit pinangakuan itong ipapasyal bukas dahil linggo naman, pumayag naman agad ang bata at excited itong natulog.

Nandito kami sa dining  at magkaharap, tabi kami ni Brett at magkatabi din ang mga magulang niya. I feel the air of awkwardness, ano kaya ang pag uusapan namin.

"Jared is such a wonderful kid, you were a  great mother for sure..." Brett's dad break the silence.

"Thank you po..." Tanging sagot ko sa awkward na ngiti.

"It's Bernard..." Nilahad nito ang kanyang kamay, tinanggap ko ito ng walang pag alinlangan.

"Anne,sir" I half smile.

"Okay, now let me asked you this time. Why did you keep our grandson from us for a long time,I've heard Brett just knew about him months ago." Parang nalunok ko yata ang lalamunan ko sa tanong niya. Alam Kong may mali ako pero paano ko irarason ang kabalbalang ginawa ng asawa niya? Maybe I'll just save her for Brett's sake.

"I'm sorry,sir. Me and your son only had a one night stand. And his already married when I found out that I'm carrying his son. I don't want any scandal and I don't want my child to be a bastard. So I raise him alone." Deritso Kong sabi upang hindi na makareact pa si Brett.

His father just stared me like I'm a puzzle to solve.

"Wait! You're just-"

"It's the half truth, Bernard... I'm all to blame." His mom face me.  May namumuong luha sa kanyang mga mata.

"Anne, I'm sorry..."

Nakayukong sabi ng Mommy ni Brett kaya nanlaki yung mga mata ko sa narinig, is she really saying it?

"Whats that for?" His father is a bit annoyed and confused.

"I scare her away back then. They don't have any relationship but our son love her so much...but I despise her-"
