"You can come see her now," Dr. Iero said, walking into the hospital room. "I am pretty certain that you are pretty stable right now."

Troye nodded silently,  not letting go of Jacob's hand as he was helped into a wheel chair. He hissed quietly in pain as the heat seemed to shoot through his abdomen despite all of the pain medication he was on. C-sections were terrible, he was more than ready to wait for longer before he went through the surgery.

Troye never let up his grip on Jacob's hand as they made their way slowly down the hallway. He was both excited and worried. He wanted to see her, oh did he want to. He loved his baby girl so much without even having to see her, but he was scared. He did not want to see what a bad position he had put her in by failing to carry her for long enough.

Dr. Iero pushed open the door and held it so that the nurse could wheel Troye through. The room was dim, quiet and warm. There was only two babies in there, but Troye could tell which one was his as soon as they got in there.

He desperately wanted to get out of the chair, but he would probably end up falling. He was weak, tired and sore.

Troye let out a small meow, leaning forward and looking through the plastic. She was so small. He was right about her being fragile. Her feet were so tiny: about half the size of Troye's finger. Her cat-like ears were the smallest he had ever seen, but they were there. She had a little bit of light coloured hair a top her head, but not much. Not as much as Joel had.

"So small," Troye whispered. He touched the side of the incubator meowing again. "I'm sorry."

"Troye," Jacob said, squeezing his hand. Troye looked up at the human, the sadness apparent in his eyes. But it was mixed with joy. He was happy to have her, even if she was small.

"Pretty, pretty kitten. I want to hold her."

"I'm afraid you can't," Dr. Iero said sympathetically. "Not right now, at least. Give her a couple more days and you will be able to touch her, okay?"

Troye nodded, whispering an 'okay' in reply. They stayed in that room for a few hours, just looking at her and admiring her for a few hours before Troye started yawning. Dr. Iero told him that it was important for him to get his rest, and that it was time for them to say goodnight.

"Goodnight little Cherry Blossom," Troye said, kissing his hand then laying it against the incubator. "Daddy loves you. I'll see you in the morning."

With that Troye allowed himself to be wheeled back up to his room and put back into his bed. Jacob joined him in the small hospital bed, leaning down to kiss him as he pulled him in close.

"You called her Cherry Blossom," Jacob said quietly. "Why's that?"

Troye smiled. "Because she's pretty and little and fragile like a little cherry blossom," the neko said. "And I'm sure that if she wasn't in the incubator she would smell nice like a baby, and cherry blossoms smell nice as well."

Jacob chuckled, pulling Troye closer. "We need to think of some names for her," he said. "Do you have any ideas?"

Troye shook his head no. "I dunno. I was not really thinking that much about it."

"She looks like she has blonde hair."

"It's cute."

"She is."

Troye was quiet for a moment, just looking out the window. The rain had stopped, but drops of water still clung to the glass. The sun was going down, casting an orange glow over the city below. The wind blew gently, blowing water out of trees as if ruffled the leaves.

"Are you mad at me?" Troye asked, not looking up at Jacob as he asked the question. The man's fingers stopped running through his hair momentarily before starting again.

"Of course I don't hate you."

"Are you mad at me?"

"What would I be mad at you for?"

Troye shrugged. "I dunno. You're just talking to me like you're mad."

"I'm not mad at you, kitty. I'm just sad. That's our kitten in there and... It just breaks my heart to see how little she is and to see all of those wires. It breaks my heart to see you in pain and you so upset."

Troye didn't say anything, just nodding. He didn't know what to say. If he opened his mouth again, he would probably start apologizing again.

The couple sat in silence for about an hour as the sun sunk lower and lower below the horizon.

"I have to go see the boys," Jacob said quietly. He kissed Troye's forehead before standing up and pulling on his shoes. "I'll be back in a little while, okay? Dan and Phil are watching them right now but Hari is on a plane along with my mother, coming to watch them."

"Okay," Troye said. "I love you."

"I love you too, Tro. Be good while I'm gone." Jacob kissed Troye's slightly chapped lips before grabbing his coat and leaving the hospital. Troye watched him go, watching as the door closed and listening to him walk away before he broke down.

He curled up in a tight ball despite the pain, making sure to keep the arm that had the IV in it safe. He cried and cried, shaking and muttering words to himself. He did not care what Jacob or the doctors said. He felt that he had failed, and he felt like he would never live it down.
