Chapter 18 oh the feels sorry the story is a bit depressing recently...
ENJOY!
I do not own Marvel only my OCs.
I stood beside Tora watching the little boat set sail with Frigga’s corpse on top of it. I made her dead; I was the reason for her funeral.
A small veil draped over her lifeless face. I simply stared at her as the boat carried her off, feeling only guilt. I glanced at Tora who stood next to Thor, she looked at the boat then looked at the ground and then to me.
‘You played no part in her death, Loti.’ She whispered, as if she knew what I was thinking. Tears crept into my eyes again but I frantically rubbed them away. ‘You shouldn’t blame yourself.’
‘Victoria.’ I spoke to her using her first name not her nickname which caught her attention quicker. ‘I’m the reason for all this.’
Deeply, she looked into my eyes. Her face showed forgiveness and then anger towards me for thinking such a ridiculous thing. Tora sighed, looking back at the little boat which was now in the distance. She touched my shoulder.
‘No, you aren’t. Don’t you dare say that. It’s not your fault because you didn’t know that it was going to happen. If it weren’t for you the real Jane would be dead, not the illusion.’
She was right. She was also wrong. I should apologise for being stupid. I couldn’t help but still feel responsible for her death so I wasn’t sure whether I was apologising to Frigga or Tora.
‘I’m sorry.’ I whispered, the lump in my throat made my voice squeaky as I swallowed holding back the pain. I don’t deserve to feel as sad as I do; it’s Thor and Loki who should, after all Frigga is their mother. Even if Loki said she wasn’t. She was right: so perceptive about everyone but yourself.
I’m sure Thor and Loki are sadder than me even though it seems impossible.
Not to mention Odin.
People held white orbs of light as the Queen passed them. Their faces filled with sorrow as they bowed their heads in respect.
Other people joined the Queen who had died that day also. Each of them being carried away on their own boat. A thousand fiery arrows filled the sky, all of them of perfect aim. Setting their loved ones alight.
The untameable sea carried Frigga away, gently, followed swiftly behind by other small boats.
A soft thud eased the atmosphere as Odin banged his staff to the ground.
The little boat didn’t topple off the waterfall, in fact, the boat carried on steadily moving forward, letting the life force of Frigga rise towards the stars. Towards heaven, Thor called it Valhalla. I felt something lift from me too; the guilt. I knew then that it wasn’t my fault, it was Malekith’s.
All of the Asgardians let go of the light they held in their hands, letting go of their loved ones, but knowing they would join them one day. Although very sad, the scene was beautiful. Overlooking Space which was a vast ocean of bewildering darkness, I began to see the orbs of light rise to the heavens, Frigga leading them. Vibrant shades of imminent colours tinted the dark universe, allowing the orbs to pass through on their journey to Valhalla.
I looked over the Warriors Three and Lady Sif noticing that each of them were unable to compute and register the recent unfortunate events. Fandral clenched both hands watching his Queen drift to heaven. Sif held back tears, she was a warrior, one of the strongest female warriors who ever lived, I remember Thor telling me once. Volstagg remained motionless, looking over the sea’s horizon.
Each orb looked like a single star. Maybe, to us, they were stars?
