Chapter 30

We hastily walked out of the abandoned factory, trailing behind Thor and Jane. I looked around and the dim streetlights looked like little stars shimmering above us. Jane carried on walking like she knew where she was going, and she did. She was wandering over to her car, which was now vandalised and covered in graffiti. The windows were all smashed and it didn’t look safe to drive. I don’t think Jane cared because we kept walking.

I opened the car door on the left side at the back after Jane unlocked it. I was careful not to cut myself on the glass. Tora smiled as I turned to her as she got inside. Her eyes looked down at my right arm, the one that was facing me. There was a huge cut, a huge gaping wound. Blood had dried around it and from what I could see the skin surrounding it was turning an unnatural grey colour. I heard Tora gasp. I had tried to keep quiet about it but obviously Tora had to notice. She passed me the silver cloth that was hanging around her shoulders. I wrapped it around the top of my arm and tied it firmly so that it applied pressure to the wound and was held in place. Jane shoved the keys into the ignition, forcing the damaged car to work.

‘So who’s Richard?’ Thor asked innocently.

‘Really?!’ Jane answered given the situation, the car burst to life and Jane held the steering wheel tightly.

After driving hastily, we eventually arrived at Jane’s apartment. Jane was warmly welcomed by a girl about Tora’s age. She jumped away from her computer and walked over.

‘Hey.’ She casually greeted, placing her coat on the hangers.

‘You can’t just leave like that! The whole world is going crazy!’ Her friend said again, annoyed by Jane’s calmness.

Thor hung mjolnir on one of the racks and then followed Jane into the room.

‘All the stuff we saw is spreadi-.’ Her friend turned to me and Tora. ‘Who are you guys?’

‘I’m Tora and this is my sister Loti.’ Tora said and I waved as we walked in.

‘Wow, really!? Tony Stark’s daughters!?’ She said amazed. She then shook our hands without a second thought. We got this a lot so I wasn’t surprised or anything.

‘Yep.’ Tora answered like she was talking to a stadium full of paparazzi.

‘Cool! I’m Darcy by the way, Jane’s intern.’ She turned back to Jane who was about to talk to a man… who wasn’t wearing pants… ‘Have you guys been to a party?’

‘Eric!’ Jane happily yelled, towards the man sat down.

‘Jane!’ He said, rising from his seated position at a table. He held out his arms and welcomed her hug.

‘You’ve been to Asgard!’ He said excitedly, after her warm hug.

‘Where are your pants?’ Jane inquired, looking down at him.

‘Oh, uh, he says it helps him think.’ Another man mentioned, revealing himself from the lounge.

‘Okay. Well, I’m going to need everything you got on this, all the work you’ve been doing on gravimetric anomalies, everything.’ Jane gently demanded.

‘Okay.’ Eric agreed, turning around and flashing me and Tora a quick hello. He then noticed Thor still stood in the doorway.

‘Are you well, Eric.’ Thor queried, Eric chuckled before his smile slowly faded.

‘Your brother isn’t coming, is he?’ Eric questioned hesitantly. Loki had almost destroyed New York now that I think about it.

‘Loki is dead.’ Thor answered, his eyes lowering in pain.

‘Oh, thank god.’ Eric truthfully confessed, breathing out as I looked up at him in astonishment. ‘I- I mean I’m so sorry.’ Eric added quickly changing his mind.

‘Thank you.’ Thor replied for his consideration before hugging him.
