‘Where are we going?’ I asked struggling to keep up with Thor’s pace.
Giant golden colossal doors opened unto the God of Thunder’s bidding. We walked through the prison corridors, I kept my head down, not daring to meet any of the prisoner’s eyes. A sharp smell invaded my nostrils but I ignored it just like Thor had ignored my question.
‘Isn’t it obvious,’ Thor remarked, oh sorry, no I don’t know where we’re going actually Thor! Seriously, what had made him so tense? ‘I’m sorry Loti, it’s just-.’
Thor instantly stopped talking, his eyes meeting Loki’s.
‘Thor after all this time and now you come to visit me.’ Loki’s voice pierced the silence. ‘Why?’ He questioned coldly. Thor stood his ground.
Loki stood in front of the charmed glass, poised and refined. I grew suspicious because of how clean and well-kept given the circumstances, Thor saw past his tricks.
‘Have you come to mock? To gloat?’ Loki further questioned. ‘And you too Loti? I wouldn’t have expected you to come.’
I kept my head down paying no attention to him. This was for Thor and Loki to deal with, not me.
‘Loki enough.’ Thor deeply stated. ‘No more illusions.’
I looked up. Loki dropped the act, transforming his cell into one of obliteration and ruin. Every item in Loki’s cell had been thrown around and surged backwards. His table, chair and bed had been completely upturned. As a reflex of instinct, my hand tried to cover my mouth but I kept my hands clasped together, my eyes searched around the room for Loki. He was a mess. His back against the far wall, his hair in its natural state; misshapen and wavy. The clothes he wore were rough and looked uncomfortable compared to his usual attire. His eyes were lifted, meeting the gaze of his brother. His legs drawn casually in front of him, blood staining the white floor’s surface from his foot. He was dishevelled and his eyes… pained and full of suffering, this was no doubt the result of Frigga’s death.
‘Now you see me, brother.’ He said trying to supress the misery. Loki doesn’t usually call Thor his brother but given the circumstances I could understand.
At the sound of his fragmented voice, Thor moved around to the other side of Loki’s cell, I followed him keeping my distance.
‘Did she suffer?’ Loki questioned finding the confidence to ask. We both knew who he meant, he didn’t need to repeat her name.
‘I do not come here to share in our grief.’ Thor explained harshly. ‘Instead I offer you the chance of a far richer sacrament.’
Loki was intrigued.
‘Go on.’ He uttered.
‘I know you seek vengeance as much as I do. You help me escape Asgard and I will grant it to you, vengeance.’ Thor said. ‘And afterward, this cell.’ Thor sarcastically added, taking his eyes off Loki and looking around his cell.’
Loki glanced up and around his cell just as Thor did. Then down to the ground for a spilt second before laughing mischievously.
‘You must be truly desperate to come to me for help.’ He sighed in a devilish tone. ‘What makes you think you can trust me.’ He cunningly added.
‘I don’t.’ Thor stated. A long pause of painful silence struck the two brothers. ‘Mother did.’ He held his head down in agonising remembrance.
‘You that when we fought each other in the past, I did so with a glimmer of hope that my brother was still in there somewhere. That hope no longer exists to protect you.’ He paused looking towards Loki. ‘You betray me and I will kill you.’
Loki’s sly smile made its way towards Thor. Loki wasn’t at all hesitant to answer his brother and this concerned Thor.
‘When do we start?’
