Dawn was coming. Another sunrise was about to begin. Colors of amber and lavender spread across the sheets of cloud. Faint crows of roosters echoed in the hallways. But this was no ordinary morning. Men in steel clad armor started marching along the marble-covered floors. Sparks of light and drops of water were visible in every side of the hall. War was coming.
Surely, this would be the same like last time. Bloody, chaotic, and pointless. But today was different. The prophecy had become a reality. Nine singularities had awaken, eight of which bonded with each other. A great threat will rise and today and we shall face him.
Pacing back and forth, I sighed heavily. The fate of Mir depended on our actions. One false move and it's game over. The pressure was way too much for me to handle. My anxiety started building up. I couldn't stop fidgeting with my hands. A strong slap swept through my face. That was when I realized someone was nudging me. Annoyed, I tried to do the same thing to the person in front of me. My eyes widened and I hastily stopped my hand. It was Sana.
"Aish really Jagi?" She rolled her eyes. "What's wrong with you?"
"I'm really worried Sachin..." I sighed once more. I trailed off for a few seconds before continuing. "What if I... What if I mess up?" My hands were trembling in fear.
"No, you won't mess up." She smiled, trying her best to cheer me up. "But if you do... Well, we're here for you! You're not alone, remember that Jagiya."
"Thanks. I needed that."
"No worries Jagi." Responded by the girl smiling like an idiot. She slowly leaned forward, giving a small kiss on my forehead. "He's here. The bastard's here."
I quickly moved my head to face the person entering. "Oh." I said quietly. My blood started boiling in anger. I clenched my fist, wanting to punch the man in front of us. I was about to pounce on the man, when Sana snaked her hands around my waist.
"Calm down, we'll get him later." She reassured. "But for now, our main focus is to fight for the war."
I nodded in agreement. A question suddenly popped in my head. "By the way. Don't you feel strange?" I asked her curiously. "I mean, you're going to fight your own kind?"
"Nope, not the slightest bit." Replied by the confident girl. "I never considered myself as a chaeon so it doesn't really bother me."
Our little conversation was interrupted by a loud bang. Everyone's attention went to the overseer. Scowling in annoyance, I did the same.
"Now listen up!" The overseer announced. "Today marks the day of our victory against Chaos!"
Everyone started to cheer in agreement, well except for me.
"We shall do a different approach this time. Whilst the Chaos outnumber us, we have nine singularities in our side. So that should make up for our disadvantage." He explained. "We will take another route towards Chaos, that way, they won't know we're coming!"
Whispers from the crowd echoed throughout the room. Words like 'What the hell is he thinking?' were heard everywhere. They were having doubts with the overseer's plan, but they cheered nonetheless.
"Silence!" He shouted in anger. "We shall commence!"
Soon everyone started to march forth. The plan was to ambush Chaos, but this time, we were taking a different route. Everyone exited the gates of Order, entering the outskirts. We walked a few miles more before entering an unfamiliar forest.
The forest started to thicken every time we ventured deeper. I had the slightest feeling of trust. Doubt engulfed my mind. What the hell is he thinking of? I really had a bad feeling about this. Soon, everything started to get darker and darker. Sana was clinging beside me. Knowing her, I quickly pulled her closer.
