He was falling under the covers of depression and pain
His heart was shattered; didn't think he'd love again
He spent his days in drunken denial
The hospital hallways; his favourite aisle
He'd take a puff and get lost in that state
Not caring not needing to know about his fate
Rewind and repeat til he completely blacks out
Dreaming but never knowing what its been about
Lived all his life like its some sort of game
Not realizing the damage; how it'll never be the same
Not realizing that one day he'll stumble and fall
And that would be the day he ends it all
That all changed the day she came around
He dropped his bad boy act right to the ground
It all started when he looked into her eyes
And from then on, he was clearly hypnotized
His life was slowly getting better and better
He was loving the idea of them being together
He felt his days were bright and complete
He pushed himself; not giving in to defeat
He changed himself one-eighty degrees
His voice became like a summer breeze
His test results always came back clean
He was the happiest they've ever seen
Colour started making its way to his face
Everyone realized that he was in a happy place
He was so ecstatic he decided to propose
Happy at himself; at the path that he chose
He started planning everything in his head
He decided to love her til the day he was dead
Be her guardian angel even if there was no need
Be her healing bandage if she would ever bleed
But Life has a twisted way with things
It makes is suffer with the burden it brings
And our hero here was no different at all
Fighting large demons in a world so small
You see right around the corned there lurked a surprise
His former life caught up though he severed those ties
It would up and screw him when he least expected
Ruining the love he so hardly protected
He never fully grasped what was coming his way
But it caught up to him on his supposed special day
Of course he was oblivious and ignorant to the fact
That this was the real deal not some made up act
He went to the store and got her white flowers
Choosing the best one took a couple of hours
He then went on to get her diamond ring
As the tears of happiness began to sting
He drove to her place as the radio blasted
It was a song about those who never lasted
He started humming then singing along
Never once sensing that something was wrong
All of the sudden something crashed his car
He knew that he'd kiss his life au revoir
6 flips in the air til he landed with a thud
Clutching the white flower now covered in blood
The paramedics arrived but they were all too late
There was no way they could stop this cruel turn of fate
But before he slipped they brought her to him
He spoke fast as his chances of survival were slim
"Please don't cry or bother your eyes
Just think of me when you see fireflies
I'll always protect you I'll always be there
You'll always find me with each breath of air
I loved you once and I'll love you forever
Even if in this lifetime we can't be together
Because of you i found a love so pure and true
And I'm glad the last thing i got to see is you
Take this flower it's yours to keep
Let it help you when you're trying to sleep
Let it be a reminder that I'm always there
That I've truly loved you; that I'll always care"
Slowly his breathing and heart beat declined
As life left the eyes of a man so kind
The bloodied flower lying in his lifeless hand
His death was something they could never understand
Everyone gathered around her as she cried
They couldn't pry her off now matter how hard they tried
They left her there while standing by her side
She was Begging him asking him why he died
She didn't know that demons didn't only exist in hell
She didn't know how afraid they were that he was gonna tell
But she also didn't know he was gonna propose
She would've lost her mind; gone crazy I suppose
If you ever love someone you tell them and loud
Tell them they're your world that they make you proud
Because everything could change in a blink of an eye
And there's nothing you can do; but you can at least try
