See no evil
A phrase I heard since I was a child
The idea, to me, seemed a bit wild
How can we see no evil, when evil is all we see
Every time I turn around, there's evil pointing at meWe see wars and guns, we see blood and gore
As if that's not enough, the world is asking for more
More nuclear weapons are put to the test
More families dying; in search of what's bestWe see people fleeing, we see people dying
We see people who made it, while others died trying
We see dead children, their souls flying in space
If they lived, they would've made the world a better placeSo please, tell me, and correct me if I'm wrong
Is this a world in which we want to belong?
They tell us see no evil, but evil is all we see
In a world where there's no choice; no other place for us to beHear No Evil
People talk everyday; its how we communicate
But some people's words are laced with hate
Their words could feel like a jab of a knife
and sometimes those words might cost you your lifeHear no evil?! We can't cover our own ears
We can't un-hear the lies that were said through the years
We can't un-hear the racism that we heard on TV
This is the only earth we got; unfortunately we can't fleeWe hear people scream and we hear people curse
And in my opinion, I don't know what's worse
Hearing these words be used in vain
Or the screams of helpless people who won't live againWe hear with our ears; lie after wretched lie
They're things we can't change; even if we try
So to hear no evil, is to not live at all
Because telling them not to lie; is like talking to a wallSpeak No Evil
I'm completely responsible for the words I say
Instead of cursing, at least I use them to pray
I pray for the world to become a better place
I pray that love covers us with its embraceI'm aware of the words that are projected with my voice
I'm aware that how I use them is my own choice
I'm aware of all that, because I undoubtedly know
They're either warm like a hug, or cold as snowSo you may not have a choice in what you see or hear
So use your words wisely, be the next Shakespeare
The choice you have is in what you choose to say
So use them tonight to brighten someone's day
