There is this boy at the back of the bus
Who sits with the group starting all the fuss
He always looked happy, always a smile on his face
His prized basketball always in his embraceThere is this boy at the back of the bus
Who sits with the group starting all the fuss
His clear blue eyes carry the world's love
like he was some angel brought to us from aboveThere is this boy at the back of the bus
Who sits with the group starting all the fuss
Our eyes always meet and he always gives me a nod
We smile for a second, then he returns to his squadThere is this boy at the back of the bus
Who sits with the group starting all the fuss
He helps up a girl who fell on her knees
The wipes away her tears. "Smile for me please?"There is this boy at the back of the bus
Who sits with the group starting all the fuss
He helps a little boy with tying his laces
and compliments his "cool, blue braces"There is this boy at the back of the bus
Who sits with the group starting all the fuss
He once took my hand and held open the door
And smiled at me like he never smiled beforeThere is this boy at the back of the bus
Who sits with the group starting all the fuss
One day he left the bus and he never came back
and for days on end we only wore blackThere was this boy at the back of the back of the bus
Who sat with the group starting all the fuss
He was shot and beat up, and thrown in one of the ditches
his beautiful, pure face filled with uneven stitchesThere was this boy at the back of the back of the bus
Who sat with the group starting all the fuss
I whisper "I love you." yet look at the moon
because like all angels, he was gone too soonThere was this boy at the back of the bus
Who sat with the group starting all the fuss
His seat is now empty, filled with letters and roses
put there by puffy, red eyes and runny nosesThere was this boy at the back of the bus
He left us too soon; now a memory on a photograph
and now the bus is quite, devoid of his laughThere was this boy at the back of the bus
but now he's not there......
