Chapter Nineteen: Make You Feel My Love.

Jessica Washington

The day of my auntie's wedding arrives, and I'm currently getting ready in my room. I can see River getting ready too. I still haven't said much to him. I mean, we've talked in passing, but not properly.

My parents came home the other day, and my mum seemed relieved to be back, although it sounds like they had a lovely time. However, I'm worried about my mum. She seems exhausted all the time, and I'm not sure whether travelling to the other side of the world helped that.

"Jess, are you nearly ready? We have an hour's drive!" my dad shouts, as I finish putting on my shoes. I have the dress I bought last week on, and I'm wearing shoes of the same colour. I've actually made an effort with my makeup as well, so Jasmine and her husband-to-be, Joe, better appreciate that. I've also tied the top part of my hair up, while leaving the rest down my back in loose curls.

I head downstairs to where my dad is waiting. My mum left last night to go see Jasmine before her big day, and as the maid of honour, she wanted to be prepared.

"Is River ready?" my dad asks, and I nod.

"Yeah, I'll go get him," I reply, before leaving the house and walking outside to River's house, knocking on the door. River answers the door and grins.

"Hey, long time no see, Jessica Washington," River grins, as I look at what he is wearing. He's wearing a plain white shirt, and he must have seen my dress at some point, as his tie matches, and black trousers with black shoes.

"Book boy, ready to go?" I ask, as he looks at what I'm wearing, making me blush slightly. Thank goodness that I don't noticeably blush too badly. I know Olivia turns into a tomato.

"Y-yeah, ready when you are," River answers, slowly, before he follows me to the car. My dad gets in the front, so I sit in the back next to River. My dad starts to drive, and I sigh, leaning back against the seat and looking out the window, waiting to get there.

We arrive in the town where my mum and my auntie grew up in around an hour later, and we park near the local church. People are already heading into the church, while others are waiting outside, greeting everyone who arrives.

"Time to face the in-laws," my dad jokes, and I roll my eyes.

"Don't be rude, they're better than your family," I reply, and my dad grins slightly at this.

"Very true, my parents even scare me," my dad replies, before we get out the car.

"I'm going to go speak to your mother, why don't you and River go and sit inside?" my dad suggests, and I nod, before walking into the church with River. The church has flowers down the aisle, with rose gold bird cages hanging from the ceiling, which also have flowers around. Personally, not my thing, but I guess it looks pretty.

I sit down in the second pew from the front with River, as my mum will be sat in the front row. I was asked to be a bridesmaid, but it was difficult for me to get to any of the dress fittings in between school, but she said that I could be a backup maid of honour in case something happened to my mum. Basically, I'm a BTEC maid of honour, which is definitely better than being a bridesmaid. This also means that I don't have to walk down the aisle with her, as I would definitely trip.
