Chapter Forty-Two: Too Deep.
♡ Jessica Washington ♡
School breaks up a few weeks later, and the planned trip to New York arrives. My dad surprisingly gave me permission to go, as I'm not sure he's too happy with me going away with River due to how our last trip ended. But he said that as long as River and I sleep in separate rooms, it's okay. He also embarrassingly told River this as well, and River promised that we would.
"Are you ready to go?" River asks impatiently, leaning against my windowsill. I roll my eyes, zipping up my suitcase. We still have ages, but River is acting like a little excited puppy, which is actually really sweet.
"Yes, River, I'm ready to go," I reply, before he picks up my suitcase and carries it downstairs. I follow him downstairs, where my dad is waiting, having tea with Rachel while Ashley is playing with her dolls.
"Well, we're leaving," I say, making them both look up.
"Oh, okay. Well, remember to take pictures and keep me updated," Rachel smiles, hugging both her son and me.
"Enjoy yourselves. Not too much though, if I hear that you've done anything with my daughter-" my dad starts to say, to which I roll my eyes, laughing.
"Calm down, dad," I laugh, embarrassed. River smiles, shaking my dad's hand.
"Don't worry, your daughter is in good hands," River reassures my dad, before I hug my dad and Tyler's car pulls up outside, as Tyler said that he would drive Olivia, River and I.
"Hey," I smile, sitting down in the back with River sitting beside me. The atmosphere in the car is tense. Olivia seems distant , and Tyler clearly doesn't know what to do, giving me a desperate look in the mirror.
"Are you alright, Olivia?" I ask, but Olivia just smiles in response. I sigh, making a mental note to speak to her later, before one of Tyler's favourite songs starts playing on the radio and he turns it up, singing along. Which would be fine, if he could sing, which he can't. Olivia rolls her eyes, but smiles in amusement at her boyfriend. Okay, so it isn't an issue with Tyler, as otherwise she would have hit him by now.
"Tyler, shut up," River complains, closing his eyes and leaning back in his chair. I smile, looking out the window and ignoring Tyler's singing, waiting to arrive at the airport.
Finally, we arrive at the airport. We get out of the car and head to where Marcus, Tom, Ava and Bella are waiting. I smile politely at all of them, before we all head into the airport.
It takes ages before we finally sit down on the plane. We couldn't get all of our seats together, so I'm sat with Olivia, Bella and Ava, while River, Tyler, Marcus and Tom are sat somewhere else on the plane. Unfortunately, Olivia wanted to sit by the aisle, leaving me sat next to Bella. After a few attempts of speaking to Olivia, which fail, I turn to Bella.
"Hi," I say awkwardly, making Bella roll her eyes.
"What do you want, Washington?" Bella asks, frowning.
"Look, can we at least pretend to get along for the brief time we have to spend together? Otherwise these five days are going to be crap for everyone. We can do each other's hair and makeup and read Vogue together," I smile brightly, much to Bella's annoyance.
