Chapter Fourteen: What A Beautiful Way To Die.

The rest of the week passes quite quickly, and then Saturday arrives. I'm planning on going on a run this morning, but then I'm spending the rest of the day inside. My parents have also gone away on holiday. They left early this morning to catch a flight to New York, where my mum has wanted to go since forever. They finally saved enough money, but I said that they should go by themselves, so they're on this romantic holiday in New York now for fourteen days, while I'm at home by myself.
I get out of bed and change into my black shorts and white running shirt, before tying my hair up in a messy bun and slipping on my trainers.
"Are you going out on a run?" I hear River ask, from his room.
"Yeah, why? Do you want to come?" I reply, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah sure, give me five minutes to get changed and then I'll meet you outside," River agrees, and I roll my eyes, before closing my window. I bounce down the stairs and have a quick glass of water, before I head outside to wait for River, locking the door behind me.
River leaves his house a few minutes later wearing a plain white t-shirt and some black jogging bottoms, which have elastic at the waist and at the ankles.
"Are you checking me out?" River asks, raising an eyebrow in amusement.
"No, I was just admiring your clothes," I reply, rolling my eyes.
"Sure you were," River smirks, before we start to run down the path. River follows the path I usually take, which goes down to the woods that surrounds the town. These woods have a path which runs through it, where I usually run.
"I never knew this was here," River tells me, as we run through the woods.
"Yeah, it's where I take people to kill them," I joke, since it is away from any other people, so if I did want to kill someone, this would be the place to get away with it.
"You wouldn't have it in you," River replies, smiling in amusement.
"Are you sure? Why don't you come closer and find out," I joke, and River chuckles, smiling.
"You can't live without me, you definitely wouldn't be able to kill me," River smirks, and I roll my eyes.
"You're too full of yourself, I've only known you a month," I reply, and River seems surprised.
"It feels like longer," River comments, and I smile, shaking my head.
"Well it isn't," I reply, as we continue to run through the woods.
It's quiet here, with the only sound coming from the floor beneath our feet and the birds above our heads. The path is uneven, as it is only made by people walking over it too often, rather than there being an actual path. It's only a path created by the ground being worn out, as it used to be used a lot, but then people slowly stopped using it, which is why it's now almost forgotten.
We stop for a break after around fifteen minutes of running. We sit down on the floor underneath the trees, catching our breaths. It's reasonably hot out today as well, so we're both quite sweaty. Unattractive, I know. Well, it's unattractive for me, anyway. I can't say the same about River, who still looks just as hot as ever.
