Chapter Forty-Seven: As Long As You're Happy.
♡ Jessica Washington ♡
A few days pass without me seeing River, until we go back to school on Monday. I walk to school alone, and head to my first lesson, which is English Literature. I sit down in my seat, and the lesson begins soon later, with no River. I frown in confusion, but assume that either he's late or that he decided not to come in for whatever reason, maybe because he wanted to spend time with his mum.
Instead, Tyler has decided to sit down next to me, although I have to help him with the answers more than River. I chat to Tyler while we do the work, before the bell rings and we head to our next lessons. I have a free period which I normally spend with River, but I decide to find somewhere to sit and do some revision for my exams that start in two months time.
Lunch time arrives a few hours later, and I sit down with Olivia, Bella, Ava, Tyler, Marcus and Tom round the table.
"No River today?" Bella questions, raising an eyebrow.
"No," I reply, shaking my head. I'm curious as to where he is, but I guess that if he wanted to tell me, he would have done. I eat my lunch, before someone suddenly wraps their arms around my waist and rests their chin on my forehead. I jump slightly in surprise, and River chuckles, rolling his eyes in amusement.
"So I got my university application back," River comments, sitting down next to me. His expression gives nothing away, he looks entirely blank. I look at him in surprise, raising an eyebrow. We haven't talked much about university. I know that he applied for the University of Manchester, the University of York and the University of Edinburgh, with the University of Edinburgh being his first choice.
"Really? So, did you get in?" I ask, curiously, raising an eyebrow. And that's when a wide smile crosses River's face and he nods, handing me the letter. I unfold the letter and read through his letter. As long as he gets the grades that he is expecting in our exams, he's got as place at the University of Edinburgh.
"Wow, well done, that's amazing!" I smile, as I finish reading the letter. River is going to Edinburgh for university, a six hour drive away from Oxford. We might not even still be together by then, I'm thinking too far ahead. It wouldn't hurt to talk about it, though.
"I didn't think you'd get into university, River, I'm shocked," Tyler jokes, and River rolls his eyes.
"Well, it may have been my grades, or my charming attitude, who knows," River grins, and I shake my head, amused.
"So, Edinburgh?" I comment, and River nods.
"They have a decent photography course that I could take. I'm still not sure what I want to do, but at the moment I'm interested in doing photography," River replies, and I nod, smiling.
"I'm happy for you," I smile, and River smiles in response.
"I know it's not quite Oxford, but I'm looking forward to it," River tells me, and I roll my eyes.
"It's all based on the subjects. You chose Edinburgh for its photography course, I chose Oxford for its English course. I applied for Edinburgh as another option, it's a good university," I shrug, before the bell rings for the end of lunch.
