Chapter Fifty-Two: Over Time.

The next month is spent doing extensive revision, and the final exams arrive. These are what the focus of the last few months have been, and they're finally here. All the stress comes down to this.
And now, it's the day of my final exam, Biology. I'm last to finish out of my friends, which isn't surprising since I'm last at everything.
So when I walk out of my last exam, I'm not too surprised to see River, Olivia and Tyler sat outside waiting for me.
"How did it go?" River asks, and I shrug.
"Who knows, hopefully well," I reply, as we walk down the street and into town, where we go into a small cafe. On the door, there is a small 'we're hiring' sign, which I quickly read, since I need a job for the Summer.
We sit down next to the window and order a milkshake each, before we start chatting about how all of our exams went. Tyler's certain that he failed all of his, while Olivia thinks that she passed most of hers. River's entirely unsure, like me. I just find it hard to judge. I could have answered all the questions and for them all wrong. Really, I'm clueless as to how well or how badly I did.
Our milkshakes arrive, and we fall into silence. I take a mouthful of the cold strawberry milkshake, the familiar taste filling my mouth. I used to come here all the time with Olivia, I would always get a strawberry milkshake and Olivia would get chocolate. We'd usually get a small plate of chocolate chip cookies between us, but not this time. I'm too anxious to eat, anyway.
"Wait, isn't that your dad?" Olivia asks, raising an eyebrow. I turn around to see my dad sat with who I assume is the woman that he has been seeing, Elena. She's very pretty, with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. When my dad notices me, surprise crosses his face before he smiles, saying something to Elena before inviting me over.
"I'll be back in a minute," I say to River, Tyler and Olivia, before standing up and walking over to where my dad and Elena are sat.
"Hi, I'm Elena, it's nice to meet you. Your dad talks about you all the time," Elena introduces herself to me, and I smile, as my dad indicates for me to sit down next to him.
"Hi, it'a nice to finally meet you," I reply, glancing slightly at my dad, who smiles, shaking his head.
"I was waiting for the right time," my dad argues, and I roll my eyes.
"Whatever you say," I smile, glancing across at where River, Tyler and Olivia are sat, finishing their drinks.
"We were just about to talk about going out for dinner tonight, just me, you, Elena and Ethan, Elena's son?" my dad tells me, and I nod, smiling.
"Sounds good," I agree, smiling.
"Well, I'll let you go back to your friends, I'll meet you later at home," my dad smiles, before I stand up and walk back to see River, Tyler and Olivia.
"Who's that?" Olivia asks, curiously.
"Elena, my dad's new girlfriend," I reply, quickly finishing my milkshake.
