Chapter Fifty-Three: The Girl Who Became A Rumour.

Elena is right, the time period between finishing the exams and receiving the results feels long. Since our Summer break is longer due to our exams finishing before the end of term, I get to spend a few weeks with River before flying to Spain with my dad and Olivia. Unfortunately, just before we left, Tyler and Olivia had an explosive argument and they broke up. I don't know what happened, one minute they were fine, the next Olivia was crying and Tyler was stressed out and then they were over.
But it was nice to get Olivia away from everything, and she slowly cheered up throughout the three weeks we spent sunbathing on the beaches of Spain. We also got a lot of shopping done as well, before returning home the day before results day. River meets us at the airport and immediately hugs me upon seeing me, since I've only spoken to him through Snapchat since I left, as I didn't want to spend too much money on texts and phone calls. However it felt a little uncomfortable after Tyler and Olivia's breakup, so I didn't properly speak to River until after we had dropped Olivia home and River came home with me.
I told him all about Spain while he told me all about how he went travelling around the UK with Tyler, Marcus and Tom. And after talking for hours, we fall asleep.
Which brings me to now, waking up next to River on the morning of results day.
"I didn't realise just how tanned you were," River comments, smiling slightly in amusement.
"Well it would be a waste not to enjoy the warm weather," I reply, rolling my eyes.
"True," River agrees, kissing the top of my head.
"I missed you," I tell River, who smiles.
"I missed you, too," River replies, wrapping his arms tighter around my waist.
"Good, but I do want to go get my results now so hurry up and get dressed," I say, before climbing out of bed to quickly have a shower and get dressed. River climbs across to his room and gets dressed himself, before we head up to the school. We agreed to meet everyone outside the school, so I'm not surprised to see Bella, Harriet, Tom, Marcus, Tyler, Ava and Olivia stood outside. Harriet didn't take the exams, but I guess she came for moral support. Olivia looks awkward, but looks relieved to see me. Tyler looks just as awkward.
"Finally, we thought you weren't coming," Marcus grins, as we head into the school to collect our results.
"Well, good luck everyone," I say to everyone, before the nerves suddenly hit me. If I fail these exams, I can't get into Oxford. This is it. River glances at me and smiles reassuringly.
"Don't worry, Jessica. If you get into Oxford, that's brilliant. If not, you've been offered places at two other brilliant universities that will be lucky to have you, and Oxford will have missed out. Besides, I'll still lo-like you either way, so you'll still have the most important thing," River winks, hugging me, although his cheeks turn slightly pink at the end when he says that he'll still like me. He nearly said love, I'm pretty sure. And that makes me feel a bit happier. Because I already know that I'm falling in love with him, and I hope that this means that he's feeling the same. I roll my eyes, before taking a deep breath and joining the queue to collect my results.
When I finally have the brown envelope in my hands, I open them by myself in case I do end up crying or something else embarrassing. I basically need minimum three A*s and an A, but I'm hoping to get a full set of A*s.
