Chapter 23

Lauren's POV:

I wake up the next morning and Mikey is sleeping on the floor.
I get up and go to the kitchen.
I make breakfast and glance at my calendar, we are
supposed to be leaving for tour tomorrow.
I'm not going if it's like this.
I go to the bathroom, and when I come out, Mikey is eating a bowl of cereal at the table.
"Oh jeez, you scared me." I said.
He laughed a little. "You have so many missed calls and texts."
I sigh, "What should I do Mikey?"
I sit at the table next to him.
"Well, I would get back together with me. But honestly," He sighs this time. "Talk to him. I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation."
"Really? Do you think so?"
Just as I asked, there was banging at the door.
I get up and open it, Daniel and Zach were standing there.
"Lauren, we have to show you something!" They yell.
Then they walk in and see Mikey. "What is he doing here?" Zach asks with attitude.
"I'll just be leaving." Mikey said, getting up.
"Bye Mikey." I say as he walks out and waves.
"Lauren! Jack didn't cheat!" Daniel says.
I look at him and roll my eyes.
"You have to believe us!" He continues.
"I have to? You're just saying that because you guys are best friends." I respond.
"No really!" Zach goes on. "When Aspen came up to him at the park, he started recording. He has the whole situation on film. He tried to get her to leave."
I look at him, confused.
"What?" I ask.
They both nod.
"I can't go over there now, I'll look stupid." I say.
"No you won't." Daniel argues.
"And even if you did, whose gonna care? We are
your best friends." Zach says.
"We go on tour tomorrow and we all really want you there." Daniel adds and they both give me puppy eyes.
"If he comes over here, maybe i'll listen to what he has to say." I say and cross my arms.
They silently cheer and run outside.
I sit and wait.

Jack's POV:

I've been in my room all morning, thinking.
I wish Lauren would just believe me.
I need to tell Aspen to stay away.
I start typing a message to Aspen, when Daniel and Zach barge in.
"Dude!" Daniel yells, while panting.
"Lauren said if you go over there, she will hear you out!" Zach shouts.
I stand up. "Really?"
They both nod.
I grab my phone where I have the recording and start walking over.
I take a deep breath and knock.

Lauren's POV:

I hear a knock at the door.
I pull myself together and open it, and Jack is standing there.
He looks tired, like he hasn't slept and he's been crying.
He smiles without showing teeth.
"Hi." He says.
"Hey.." I respond.
I gesture for him to come inside and he goes to the couch and sits.
I follow him.
"Thanks for letting me talk." He says.
I nod.
"Lauren, I would never cheat on you, or intentionally hurt you. I hope you know that, I care too much about you." He starts.
"What happened at the park?" I ask.
"Well, I was sitting there and waiting for you to show up. Aspen came up out of nowhere, I told her to go away but she kissed me as soon as she saw you coming."
"Did you push away?" A tear drops down my face.
"Yes."
I look at him, and continue crying.
"Lauren don't cry, that's gonna make me cry and I've already been crying non stop."
I cry even more.
"Can I ask you something?" He says.
I nod, and wipe my tears off my face.
"Why was Mikey here yesterday?"
"I needed someone and he was there, we didn't do anything. I don't like him like that, I only like one person like that."
I look down and work up the courage to say, "I don't believe you."
He looks up at me and I'm playing with my hands. "What?" He says, confused.
"How do I know you are telling the truth?"
He pulls out his phone and goes to photos. There is a video on his phone.
"As soon as I saw Aspen walking towards me, I hit record and put my phone in my pocket." He says.
The video plays, Jack rejected her every time, he even yelled at her after she kissed him. The conversation between him and Mikey played, then I heard a couple doors slam and Jack was crying in his room.
I look up and he is staring at his phone.
Him and Daniel talking plays, and then the video stops.
"So, you really didn't cheat with Aspen?" I ask.
"Of course not, I only love you Lauren." He says.
I pull him into a hug.
"I'm sorry I didn't trust you." I say and start crying softly.
"It's ok, I wouldn't have believed me either."
That's when I start thinking, Mikey doesn't live anywhere near the park where I was going. How did he know about it?
"Does Aspen live near here?" I ask Jack as I pull away from the hug.
"Um no, why?" He responds.
"Music in the park was a local thing for this neighborhood, how did her and Mikey both know about it?"
My phone buzzed in my pocket, I checked it and it was a text from Mikey.

Mikey: Lauren, I'm sorry.

"Oh my gosh." I say.
"What?" Jack asks and leans over to look at my phone screen.
The picture was a screenshot of him and Aspen's conversation, they had a plan to break us up.

Lauren: Don't talk to me.

"We should go tell the boys." Jack suggests.
"Yeah, but Jack, I'm so sorry for not trusting you. I can't wait to go on tour with you." I say.
He smiles. "I love you."
"I love you more." I respond.
"Impossible." We kiss and then head over to the Why Don't We house to tell them the news.
"So apparently, they had a plan all along." Jack finishes telling the boys.
"Oh my god." Daniel says.
"What jerks." Corbyn adds and I giggle.

A few minutes pass by and Jonah says, "We should go out, do something before we leave for tour tomorrow."
We all agree and go walk around LA.
A few fans stop to take pictures, but other than that, I had a lot of fun.
I took a lot of cute pictures.
When we were all done in town, we drove back to our houses.
"I'll be over in the morning, ready to leave." I say as I start walking to my door.
"Ok!" The boys yell and go inside.
I walk inside and hear a knock. I answer and Jack kisses me.
I kiss back and we pull apart. He smiles and runs off.
What a dork, my dork.
