Once exams were over and everyone was back at school, the pressure was really on for everyone. Teachers had begun to push the students to start applying for universities and colleges. It was time they had to make the decision that could make or break their future. Ellie knew exactly what she wanted to study but finding the perfect place to go proved to be the hard part. She could stay at home and apply for universities and colleges close to home. This was a simple plan and affordable. However, UCLA was still in her brain. This was the crazy plan that would cost her a lot of money but it was an adventure and she had her heart set on it.
Ellie knew everyone else in the group was staying close to home. Cooper had no idea what he wanted to do or whether he even wanted to go to university. Summer had a sports unconditional for a local university so she was fine, she had her place for when she left school. Emily wanted to go on to study care or nursing which everyone could have guessed.
Summer and Emily had come to Ellie's house during their time off to look through university prospectuses and brochures. Ellie thought it would be best if she now told them about her idea of going off to California to study. She didn't even really get the chance to tell them as when they looked through the brochures, Ellie had the UCLA one was among them.
"Why do you have this?" Summer asked
"That's kind of what I wanted to talk to you girls about" Ellie said
"Are you thinking of applying here?" She asked
"Yes but I don't know if its a long shot or not, I've discussed it with my dad and if i got in he would help me financially" Ellie explained
"Well go for it El, it can't hurt to apply" Emily said
"I just don't know if I'm dreaming too big, I mean its California" Ellie said
"Yes it is, you have always wanted to visit California, imagine if you got study and live there for four years" Summer said
"What course are you applying for?" Emily asked
"Film and TV studies along with theatre studies" Ellie said
"You definitely need to apply Ellie, imagine if you got in, this is a dream" Summer said
"And so what if it's a long shot, everything will work out, if you don't get in then you stay here with us" Emily said
"Okay i guess that's fair enough" Ellie said
"Go apply then" She said passing the laptop
"Now?" Ellie questioned
"There is no point in waiting, if you keep thinking about it then you probably wont do it, so do it now" Summer said
They were intrigued to look through the website and see pictures of the campus which they loved. They read through the course details which made them come to the conclusion that the course was perfect for Ellie. In fact the whole place was perfect for her so she definitely needed to apply there. She did so and they continued to look through and apply for other places. They discussed the idea of all living together if they stayed at home. It all sounded really fun but in the back of Ellie's mind, she was praying she got into UCLA. She really wanted that adventure in her life. The idea of meeting new people and discovering a new place excited me.
"Well now that's done, we can go out for food" Summer said
"I can't believe you're leaving us El" Emily said
"I've already said it's a long shot, I'll probably be staying at home" Ellie said
"You would miss us too much" Summer said
