Justin’s POV:
“If you ever touch my sister again, I’ll KILL you,” Selena yelled into Josh’s face. I was livid. We called the police and Selena’s parents and waited for them to come. I opened the door to the locker room and saw that there were paparazzi outside.
“Ugh! How do they find us?!” I yelled frustrated. “Fredo bring the car closer to the door so the paps won’t get near.” I told him. Sophia was still crying into Fredo’s chest, too afraid, or embarrassed to even look at us. Selena took off her jacket and put it on Sophia so she could be covered up and kissed her head. “Shh Soph calm down,” Selena whispered to her rubbing her back.
I got near Fredo to carry Sophia. She quickly wrapped her arms around my neck and then hid her face again in my chest, her body was still trembling. Fredo went outside to move the car. Selena got near Josh again making sure that he wouldn’t try to leave before the cops got there.
“Sel! Sophia!” we heard Mandy yelling as she and Brian ran inside. “Mom!” Sel yelled as she ran to Mandy. “Where is she?” I heard Mandy ask. “She’s with Justin,” she replied and then I saw Mandy and Brian running towards me.
“Oh my baby girl,” Mandy whispered as she got near. Brian picked up Sophia from my arms. Sophia finally showed her face when Brian picked her up and they both gasped. Her left eye was swollen shut and it was already very bruised and her lip had a slit on it that was still bleeding. “Daddy,” Sophia cried and then hid her face again in his chest and started crying. “Shh baby it’s ok,” Brian told her, giving her a kiss on her head.
The police arrested Josh for domestic battery and attempted rape. The ambulance also came to check on Sophia. They said that she didn’t have anything broken just the black eye and the cut lip. They gave her a shot that would calm her down and make her fall asleep because of how bad she was still shaking and crying. Sophia finally fell asleep in Brian’s arms after about 10 minutes. Brian carried her out to the car making sure that the paps didn’t get near her. Mandy put a blanket over Sophia to cover her up.
I grabbed Selena’s waist as we both walked out to the car with Mandy, Brian, and Fredo.
Selena got in her parent’s car and then Brian laid Sophia on Selena’s lap. “Justin take my car please,” Selena told me trying not to cry. “Ok baby,” I said giving her a kiss and then taking off with Fredo.
Selena’s POV:
Sophia was laying down on my lap as we went home. I could hear my mom crying in the front seat while Brian held on to her hand, trying to calm her down. I looked down at Sophia asleep and then I began to cry. Her eye was so swollen. Seeing her like that broke my heart. I ran my hand threw her hair trying to calm myself down. We finally got to my house and then Lily ran outside to greet us with my neighbor that was taking care of her.
“Lily go inside to your room please,” my mom told Lily. We didn’t want Lily to see the way Sophia looked. “Ok mommy,” Lily said running back inside. I put the blanket over Sophia’s face again and Brian carried her to her room and laid her down on her bed.
“Where’s Sophia” Lily asked running into my arms. “She’s asleep right now Lil,” I told her. “ Can I see her when she wakes up?” she asked me. “I don’t know yet. We’ll see later ok?”
Lily nodded and then ran to the door when she saw Justin and Fredo. “Hey little cutie,” Justin said as he picked her up. “Shh! Sophia is asleep,” Lily told Justin. “Oh sorry,” Justin whispered and then put her down.
“Hey baby,” Justin told me giving me a much needed hug. As soon as he wrapped his arms around me, I lost it and began crying. We all sat down on the couch in silence while my mom, Brian and I cried. Luckily, Lily was in her room playing so she wouldn’t see us and ask why we were crying.

A few days had past already since the incident but Sophia still hadn’t spoken a word to any of us. Her eye was getting better but it was still swollen. She hadn’t gotten out of bed at all unless it was to go into the restroom. “Hey, Soph.” I said to her entering her room but she said nothing. “Lily really wants to see you,” I continued. Sophia didn’t want Lily to see her at all until her eye was completely back to normal again.
Lily just nodded her head, letting me know that she didn’t want Lily to see her. “Come on Soph, talk to me,” I pleaded. Sophia just looked blankly at the wall. “Ok well, I’ll see you later then,” I told her walking out of the room.
“Anything?” my mom asked me. “Nope. She still didn’t talk,” I told her. We were all getting worried about Sophia.
“I wanna see Soph,” Lily whined. “I know baby, but she’s still not feeling well,” my mom explained to her. “Please momma, I wanna see her. Can‘t you talk to her?” Lily cried.
“Ok let me see if I can convince her,” my mom told Lily walking into Sophia’s room. “Stay here Lil,” I instructed her before following my mom.
“Soph, Lily really wants to see you sweetie,” my mom said sitting down on her bed and ran her hand through Sophia’s hair. Sophia still said nothing. “Come on Soph, I think Lily thinks you hate her or something,” my mom continued. Still nothing. My mom looked like she was getting frustrated at Sophia. She got up from the bed and then told her loudly, “Fine Sophia. Let Lily think you hate her!” she yelled at Sophia to see if she would react. “You’re letting down your little sister!” she yelled again reaching for the door.
“She’s not my sister! She’s my daughter!” Sophia finally yelled to my mom and then began to cry.
My mom’s face looked like she had just seen a ghost.
