Sophia’s POV:
“Sophia, will you marry me?” Fredo asked as he knelt down with Lily in his arms. “I don’t have a ring right now but I do have the most important thing to us in my arms.” he said as he gave Lily a kiss. Lily began to giggle but I just sat there frozen, not knowing what to say.
“Say yes mommy!” Lily exclaimed. My heart melted when I heard Lily call me mommy for the first time and I began to tear up.
“Yes,” I said, nodding my head and I began to cry because of how happy I felt. Fredo wrapped me in his arms with Lily in between us, hugging both of us.
“We’re gonna be a family now mommy?” Lily asked me.
“Soon baby girl,” I replied. “But you can’t say anything yet ok? Don’t talk about it in front of grandma, grandpa, Seena, or Justin ok?”
“Ok mommy,” she said with a smile on her face. “Let’s go inside!”
“Ok baby, you go first so I can carry your mommy down,” Fredo told her, letting her go out of his arms. Lily carefully went down the tree house and then Fredo carried me down. We all went inside and Lily ran into Selena’s arms.
“You’re Aunt Seena now!” Lily giggled to Selena.
“I love that!” Selena told her back, tickling her. “Do you feel better now?”
“Uh huh! Fredo and mommy are getting married!” she told everybody, smiling. My face began to get hot and I hid it into Fredo’s chest while everybody turned to look at us.
“What?!” they all said in unison. I brought my face back up from Fredo’s chest to see how they looked.
“I asked Sophia to marry me,” Fredo explained, laying me down on the couch.
Selena’s POV:
Fredo had just told us that he asked Sophia to marry her and I was in shock.
“Are you serious,” my mom asked them. “Sophia you’re only seventeen.”
“I know mom, but I don’t wanna get married until I’m able to walk again and that won’t be for a couple of years. I’ll be older by then. For now, we’re technically just engaged,” Sophia explained.
“Mr. and Mrs. Teefey, I honestly love your daughter with all my heart, and I love Lily just as much. I wanna be Lily’s father and I wanna be Sophia’s husband. I want us to be a family. Sure, we’re both pretty young right now, but I know that Sophia is the one for me.” Fredo told my parents.
I didn’t know if I felt happy for them or angry at them. Justin and I had been together for a much longer time than they had been and we haven’t really even mentioned us getting married.
“Umm…congratulations I guess,” I told them, then I ran upstairs to my room.
Justin’s POV:
I was so surprised when Fredo and Sophia told us that they were engaged. Selena’s grip tightened in my hand when they announced it and I knew that she was shocked too. Selena seemed pretty upset and once she told them congratulations, she ran upstairs to her room.
“I’ll go check on her.” I told them, seeing the hurt on Sophia’s face. I ran upstairs and knocked on Selena’s door before opening it.
“Baby,” I whispered as I saw Selena laying facedown on her bed. I could hear her crying. I walked towards her bed and sat down next to her, rubbing her back. “Baby why are you crying?” I asked. Selena picked her head up from her pillow and grabbed my arm, laying me down next to her. She wrapped her arm around my chest and laid her head on me.
“It’s just not fair,” she cried. “They’ve only been together for a couple of months. We’ve been together for a year now. Why are they the ones that are engaged and not us?”
“Baby look at me,” I told her, grabbing her face and wiping the tears away from her cheeks. “You know more than anybody else just how hard Sophia’s life has been. I have never seen Fredo this crazy about a girl and I knew that Sophia was different for him. The way he talks about her, the way he takes care of her, the way he looks at her, I knew that she was the one for him. Sophia is finally happy baby. Why can’t you be happy for her? You should of seen how hurt she looked when you left when she expected her sister, who she loves so much, just leave and showed that she wasn‘t happy for her. She was devastated that you weren’t happy for them, when she was living the happiest moment of her life so far.” I told her.
“Selena, you know I love you more than anything in this world and I plan on marrying you in the future, but our lives are a lot more different than Fredo and Sophia’s. We have both of our careers still ahead of us. I promise you that one day, you will have your fairytale wedding with me, and I will make you the happiest girl in the world, but for now, this is Fredo and Sophia’s time. We need to be happy for them.” I finished telling her.
Selena stopped crying and kissed me on my lips. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“For what?” I asked.
“For being you.” she smiled. “And for showing me that I was wrong for acting this way.”
Selena got up from her bed and stood in front of me, “I can’t wait for us to get married baby,” she said wrapping her arms around my neck and giving me another kiss.
“Me either,” I smiled, thinking about how our lives were going to be once we were married.
“C’mon, lets go downstairs. I have some apologizing to do.” Selena said, grabbing my arm and pulling me downstairs.
Selena’s POV:
Justin showed me that it was wrong of me to have acted the way I did and I felt really guilty about it so I went downstairs to apologize to Sophia and Fredo. Sophia was laying down on the couch, crying next to Fredo and with Lily in her arms.
I walked up towards the couch and stood in front of them while Sophia slowly stopped crying and stared at me.
“I’m really sorry for reacting the way that I did,” I told both of them, grabbing both of their hands. “I’m honestly so happy for you guys.”
“Thank you so much Sel,” Sophia told me, getting a smile on her face and reaching her arms up to give me a hug. “I love you.” she told me.
“I love you too Soph,” I replied with a smile.
“Will you be my maid of honor?” she asked me.
“Of course I will!” I said excitedly jumping on top of her and Fredo.
“Yo JB! Best man bro?” Fredo yelled to Justin with his arms in the air.
“You know it bro!” Justin yelled back, smiling.
“Baby come here!” I told Justin, patting the couch. Justin got up and walked towards the couch and sat down. I sat on his lap and Fredo pulled Sophia up onto his lap while Lily sat in the middle of us. I took out my phone, “Say cheese!” I said, and took a picture of all of us.So happy for you guys! I wrote and posted it on Instagram.
