Justin’s POV:
“Jazzy did you put Jaxon’s shoes on?” I asked, walking inside the house, running my hand through my hair.
“Yes,” she said, wiping the tears from her eyes.
“Baby it’s ok. Lily is going to be fine,” I tried to reassure her. I couldn’t imagine just how mad and upset Sophia and Fredo were going to be with Sel and I. They trusted us with their daughter and now this happened. Fuck. I hope she’s ok. Please let her be okay.
“Let’s go,” I told Jazzy and Jaxon, wiping a tear that was running down my face. I picked up Jaxon in my arms and held on to Jazzy’s hand while we walked outside to the car and got in. Please let her be ok.
Selena’s POV:
Ms. Gomez we’re going to have to ask you to wait in the waiting room while we examine your niece” one of the nurses told me, holding me back while they rushed Lily into the emergency room. “You can wait in the private family waiting area if you would like. It’s on the second floor.”
“O-okay,” I whispered, still in shock from everything that had happened. I grabbed my phone and called Justin.
“Sel, what is it?! Is she ok? Please tell me she’s ok!” Justin answered frantically.
“Well they finally got her breathing in the ambulance but they took her into the emergency room. I don’t know anything else.” I explained, as I got into the hospital’s elevator. I couple of more people got into the elevator with me, including a little girl who looked like Lily.
“I’m on my way Sel. I’ll be there in a bit,” Justin told me.
“Ok,” I whispered and then hung up.
I stood in the elevator for what felt like a couple of more minutes and then the door finally opened. Once everybody got out, I stepped out of the elevator and looked for the waiting room for five minutes until I finally found it. I entered the small empty room and sat in a chair wondering how I was going to explain myself to Fredo and Sophia. They were never going to be able to forgive me.
“Selena?” I heard a familiar voice say and then saw Justin peek his head into the room. Jazzy and Jaxon both came in and ran to me, crying.
“Is Lily gonna be ok?” Jazzy asked.
“I hope so,” I said, trying not to cry but I couldn’t hold it in. I placed Jazzy on the chair besides me and began bawling, covering my face with my hands. I felt Justin’s arms wrapped around my shoulders as he pulled me closer to him, causing me to lean my head on his arm.
“I’m so sorry baby. This is all my fault,” Justin cried with me.
I lifted my head up from his arm and looked at him confused. “How is this your fault Justin?”
“If I hadn’t been tickling you, we both would of seen Lily and we would of stopped her. I’m so sorry,” he cried, hiding his face with his arm.
“Baby, no. Don’t blame yourself. Just don’t. Please.” I told him, soothing his back, before we heard the door opening and saw my parents, Fredo, and Sophia.
“Selena what happened?! Is she ok?!” my mom asked, crying as she held on to Brian’s arm.
“I-I’m so sorry mom,”
“Is she ok?!” Brian asked this time.
“I don’t know. They haven’t told me anything yet. They took her into the emergency room and made me wait here,” I explained. I looked over to Sophia and Fredo who’s eyes were both full of tears.
“I’m so sorry Sophia,” I apologized.
Sophia said nothing.
“It all happened so quickly. I didn’t mean for anything to happen. They were just playing basketball outside,” I told them.
“Were you all inside or something?” Fredo asked.
“No we were outside with them,” Justin added.
“Well then how did she get hit by a car?!” Sophia snapped back, angrily.
“W-we were both sitting down, and Justin and I started teasing and tickling each other and then we heard tires screeching on the pavement.” I explained.
“So you all weren’t paying attention to the kids.” Sophia said coldly.
“I-I’m sorry Soph. I didn’t mean to-” I said before I was cut off.
“How could you be so irresponsible?! After I stood up for you and tried to protect you and even got in a fight for you and you couldn’t even take care of the most important person in my life?!” Sophia yelled as she lifted up her cast in the air, tears flowing down her face. “I swear to God Selena you better hope that Lily is okay or I will make sure to leave this family and you will NEVER see me again!”
My heart immediately sank to my stomach.
“Sophia don’t-” my mom said, as Sophia let go of Fredo’s hand and walked out of the waiting room, slamming the door behind her.
