Selena’s POV:
“Are you all packed?” my mom asked me as she walked into my room. I finished putting the rest of my jeans in the suitcase and then zipped it up.
“I am now,” I told her, still not feeling well from the fight I had with Sophia last night. I sat down on my bed and grabbed the picture the was on my nightstand of Sophia, Lily and I.
“Are you going to say bye to them before you leave?” my mom asked, sitting on the bed with me.
“Well I have to go pick Justin up at his apartment so I’m sure I’ll see them there,” I whispered.
“Are you ok honey?” she asked, rubbing my back in circles.
“I’m still mad at her, mom. I don’t know why I can’t get over it and I know it’s not fair. She’s right. I am leaving too. I am going to start touring soon and not be here, but I don’t want her to go to Texas. I don’t want her to take Lily. I guess the selfish side of me just wishes that she can drop everything and come with me on tour but I know that isn’t fair,” I admitted, tears falling down my cheeks. “And now Lily is mad at me too.”
“Oh honey, Lily will get over it eventually. I promise. But the fight between you and Sophia is going to take time and effort to fix. She was really hurt when you told her that she was ripping the family apart. She has a life and a family of her own. She’s not going to stop doing what she wants to do just so you can be happy Sel. You have to understand that,” she explained to me.
“I have to get going,” I said, getting up from my bed and wiping the tears off of my cheeks. Brian came into the room and helped me carry the suitcases to my car.
“Call me everyday sweetie. I love you and be careful.” my mom said as she wrapped me in her arms.
“I will. I love you too. Take care of the girls,” I whispered back to her.
“Be careful Sel. Don’t forget about us,” Brian told me as he also hugged me.
“Of course I won‘t. I love you guys,” I said as I got into my car. I gave them a quick wave and then drove out of the driveway and headed to Justin’s apartment.
Justin’s POV:
I packed up the rest of my things and put my suitcases close to the door. Fredo, Sophia, and Lily were all eating breakfast at the table.
“Hey Justin, you want me to make you something to eat before you go?” Sophia asked as she took a bite of her pancakes.
“No. I’m fine. Thanks Soph,” I replied, grabbing my wallet and passport from the counter, then I heard a knock on the door.
“C’mon Lily, let’s go into daddy’s room,” Sophia said, getting up from her chair, grabbing Lily and headed to Fredo’s room. “Have a safe trip Jay. See you soon,” she said, then closed the door behind her.
I looked over to Fredo to see what was up with them but he simply shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know bro,” he said, rolling his eyes.
I opened the door and saw Selena looking amazing as always. “Hi babe. Ready to go?” she asked, as she entered my apartment, kissing my lips.
“Yup, I’m all set,” I replied. Selena looked around the apartment, I’m guessing she was looking for Sophia and Lily.
“Hey Sel,” Fredo said, getting up from his seat and hugging Selena.
“Hey Fredo,” she replied, looking hurt. “Where are the girls?” she whispered.
“I’m sorry Sel. They went into my room when they heard you knocking on the door,” Fredo said apologetically. Selena frowned.
“Take care of them,” she said, as she walked to the door.
“See you later bro,” I told Fredo, as I gave him a hug and then grabbed my suitcases.
“Be safe guys,” Fredo called out as I closed the door.
I put my things in Selena’s car and then she handed me her car keys. “You drive. I don’t feel like driving,” she explained, tears in her eyes as she got into the passenger side. We drove to the airport in silence.
Selena’s POV
The entire ride to the airport was silent except for the occasional sobs that broke from my chest. Justin just held my hand and kept driving. He knows when to speak and when not to at this point.
We made it through security and were escorted onto our private plane that we were taking to Canada. Thankfully it would just be the two of us so I didn’t have to pretend like everything was okay.
Justin’s POV
As soon as Selena stepped onto the plane she threw her bag down and crawled into her seat. I knew that this was going to be a long flight.
“Selena…” I sighed as I walked up to here chair and kneeled beside her, rubbing her back.
“Justin, stop. Just don’t touch me.” she spat at me.
She should’ve known that once we got on the plane, I was going to make her talk to me.
“Selena you need to talk to me. You can’t get off this plane so I’m going to make you talk. Please baby?” I whispered in her ear.
Selena’s POV
I could tell that Justin was going to annoy me until I started talking so I might as well be nice to him. This wasn’t his fault, after all. It was mine.
“Please baby?” He pled with me.
I turned around to face him and just broke down. I felt so guilty about what I had done to Sophia.
“Justin she hates me. She has gone through so much crap in her life and she finally gets a good home that she deserves and I ruin it. She deserves to go to college where she wants and I’m being selfish saying that she shouldn’t go. That’s not my choice at all. Fredo and Lily make her happy and I need to let her go, but it feels like I just got her. If it weren’t for me then momma would have never had to give her up in the first place and she wouldn’t have been raped or beaten or had a child so young and she wouldn’t have been shot and-“
“STOP” Justin yelled, cutting me off.
“W-what?” I cringed away from him.
“Sorry baby, I just needed you to stop. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scream at you.” He said wiping away the tears on my face. “Selena listen to me. You are blaming yourself for everything that’s ever happened to Sophia and that’s not fair. You didn’t even know you had a sister and you can’t change what happened to Sophia. You just have to be thankful that you guys found her and that you can spoil her and you can be the sister to her that she needs you to be. And honestly Selena, I know it’s hard but you are away a lot. Her being in Texas isn’t going to be so different. With our lifestyles you will be able to fly and see her any time you have a break. Be grateful for that. You need to apologize to her though. I can get Fredo to make her skype with you if you want after we get settled at my dad’s house?”
Everything Justin was saying made sense. I was just so mad at myself for upsetting Sophia and Lily that I started to let my true feelings come out. I’ll never forgive myself for the things that happened to Sophia as she grew up. It might not have been directly my fault but she’s still my little sister and she didn’t deserve to go through that.
“How could I ever deserve such an amazing boyfriend?” I said while hugging him close to me.
“Selena you are the most amazing girl in the world. You care so much and you are so precious to me. I love you so much baby. Do you want me to call Fredo?” He asked while pulling away to look in my eyes.
“Let’s call him when we get to your dad’s okay? I just want to cuddle up and fall asleep on the flight okay?”
“Okay angel” He said while picking me up and setting me in his lap.
Just like that we drifted off into sleep and enjoyed the alone time we had with each other. Soon we would be getting off the plane and I would be facing another battle of my own.
