Justin’s POV:
We all got to the hospital and followed Sophia inside. The nurses told us to wait in a private waiting room that they had while Sophia went into surgery. We waited in there for about five hours and Lily had fallen asleep on my lap. Selena had her head leaned up against Brian’s arm and Mandy was leaning on the other side of his arm, all three of them asleep. Fredo was sitting right next to me, messing around with his phone.
“Hey bro, you ok?” I asked him. We hadn’t really talked at all since everything had happened.
“I really do like her, Justin.” he said. “I know you hate whenever I say that, but it’s the truth. We had been talking for a while now but I didn’t want to tell you because I knew how you would react.”
I sighed, realizing that I had been acting like a jerk towards Fredo. “I’m sorry man. I really thought you would tell me that you liked her just to piss me off. I didn’t actually think you were growing feelings towards her.” I admitted.
“It’s cool, I just hope she’s ok.” he said, leaning his head to the wall. One of the nurses finally came into the waiting, waking everybody up.
“How is she? Is she ok?” Mandy asked, standing up and walking towards the nurse.
“Sophia is still not out of surgery yet, but since she has a rare blood type, we don’t have enough blood to continue the rest of the surgery.” she explained.
“Well check our blood type,” Selena said, pointing herself and Mandy. “We’re the only ones that are really related to her.”
“It doesn’t matter if the rest of you are or aren’t related to her, as long as you have the same blood type, we can use it. Would all of you like to get tested?” she asked.
“Of course,” we all said in unison. We all walked with her to some room to get tested. All of us got tested except, of course, Lily because either way, she would be too young to give blood. We all went back to wait at the waiting room to see if any of us were a match.
“Well it looks like surprisingly, three of you were a match. Selena, Mandy, and Alfredo were all matches. Can you please come with me so we can start the process?” she said. Mandy, Alfredo, and Selena all got up and walked towards the nurse and then left.
After about thirty minutes, Selena, Mandy and Fredo came back into the waiting room. Selena came and sat on my lap and put her head on my chest. “I feel dizzy,” she whispered.
“Did they give you cookies and a juice?” I asked her, making sure she was going to be ok.
“Yeah,” she replied.
“Then just go to sleep baby. Maybe you’ll feel better when you wake up,” I said. Selena closed her eyes while I soothed her back.
Two more hours had passed and the doctor that was performing the surgery on Sophia finally came in.
“Baby wake up, the doctor is here,” I whispered to Selena. She woke up slowly and then everybody stood up.
“Well Sophia looks to be in a stable condition for now. Luckily, the bullet didn’t hit any major organs but it did hit her spinal chord.” he explained.
“So what does that mean?” Mandy asked, worried. “Well we can’t be sure until she wakes up, but it looks like she might be paralyzed from the waist down. I’m very sorry,” he said.
Mandy grabbed Brian’s arm and cried into his chest. Fredo started crying. I could see how much he really cared about her. I went over to give him a hug, when I felt my arm being pulled. I turned around and saw that Selena was about to collapse. I quickly got a hold of her and grabbed her before she fell to the floor.
“She said she was feeling dizzy when she came back from giving blood.” I told the doctor. “She probably didn’t have enough to eat afterward,” he explained. “You all can go in to see Sophia, just please try to keep it down. You can lay Selena down on the couch that’s in there,” he said and then left.
We all walked towards Sophia’s room. Brian, who was carrying Lily who had fallen asleep on him, opened the door and we all entered. Sophia was connected to so many machines and she looks so pale. She had some stitches at the corner of her forehead where Josh had hit her with his gun.
I placed Selena down on the couch and Brian laid Lily down next to her. Brian and Mandy sat next to Sophia’s bed and grabbed her hand. Fredo and I just kept our distance, not wanting to interfere. Brian wrapped his arm around Mandy as they both cried.
Selena woke up after about 10 minutes, looking confused. “Where am I?” she whispered, running her eyes. “We’re in Sophia’s hospital room,” I whispered. Selena quickly got up and looked at Sophia. She started crying as soon as she saw her. She walked towards Brian and Mandy and sat on Brian’s lap as she kissed Sophia’s forehead.
“She looks so pale,” Selena whispered to Brian and Mandy. “Mom, what if she really is paralyzed?”
“Then, we’re going to be there for her as a family and give her anything that she needs.” she replied.
“Together.” Brian added, giving Selena and Mandy a kiss.
We all took turns napping throughout the night. Mandy and Brian slept on the couches, while Selena, Fredo and I talked. Then Fredo and I took a nap.

Selena’s POV:
We had been at the hospital for 3 days now but Sophia still hadn’t woken up. Scooter and Kenny had come to visit Sophia and brought some flowers and teddy bears for her. I was sitting on the floor braiding Lily’s hair when we heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” my mom said. The door opened and then I saw Taylor come in with some flowers and balloons. It had been a while since I had seen Taylor ever since I had found out about Sophia. She knew about Lily and Sophia but she had never met them.
“Taylor!” I said excitedly, getting up from the floor and went to hug her. She handed me the flowers and I placed them with the other flowers that we had gotten.
“I’m really sorry I couldn’t come sooner,” she apologized, giving everybody a hug.
I picked Lily up to introduce her. “ Tay, this is Lily,” I said.
“Hi sweetheart,” Taylor told her grabbing her from my arms.
“Hi,” Lily said shyly. “You’re really pretty,” she said. We all giggled at Lily.
“Thank you,” Taylor said, “So are you cutie.”
“And this is my sister Sophia,” I said walking towards her bed and grabbed her hand.
“She really does look like you Selena,” she said as she got closer. “I really hope she gets better soon.”
“Thank you,” we all said. Taylor was there for a couple of more minutes before she had to leave again.
We were all talking to each other when we saw Sophia move her hand and then her eyes fluttered open. We quickly ran to her to see how she was feeling.
“My head hurts,” she whispered to us.
“Justin can you go call the doctor?” I asked him. He nodded and then left the room. The doctor walked into the room and checked Sophia. He gave her some medicine for the pain and said he would check on her later before he left again.
“Mom,” Sophia cried.
“Yes baby? What is it? Do you need anything?” my mom answered quickly.
“Why can’t I feel my legs?” Sophia asked, tears rolling down her cheek. We all looked at each other, frozen.
