Chapter Twenty Nine

I pulled Nevaeh close to me, my arms now surrounding her even more protectively as I looked around us expectantly. I could barley make out her face as I looked at her.

" Cael are you alright, you're so tense. Is there something wrong." I heard her ask softly, as my eyes began to adjust to the darkness, and soon I was able to see her clearly. It wasn't really as dark as I had been expecting it to be, and I realised it must have been my fear heightening because of her ex, and not knowing what to expect with his presence, in knowing that he was somewhere nearby. I shook my head and forced a smile, and brought my lips to hers and kissed her lovingly before I responded.

" No my sweet little one, everything is fine. Do you know where we are?" I asked her, and watched her head turn towards the pond and saw the sweetest smile grace her lips.

" Of course, this is where we came on our first date." She told me. " I had been so nervous that night." She admitted to me, which made me laugh and shake my head.

" You were! I was more than nervous. To be honest I had been worried that you would have stood me up." I admitted in return, and watched her turn her head to the side and she glanced up at me.

" I would never have stood you up. You were unlike any man I had known to show interest in me. Most of the men who have shown interest in me in the past were like my ex." Upon hearing her talk about her ex I became more tense and realised he had faded out of my mind the moment she had spoken.

" But you, you were who I had imagined myself to be with, the type of man I had only dreamed of, and I was nervous that you would not like who I was, and wouldn't want to see me again once the night came to an end." She told me, and I pulled her closer to me, pressing myself into her as I did. I sighed when I heard her confession, and brought my lips to hers to kiss her softly, only to pull back slightly and rest my forehead against hers.

" It's actually the complete opposite my little one. I wouldn't mind being with you for the rest of my life, that night you made me only want to know you better than what you had given to me. You had been so honest in your own truths and you had held me captivated. You still do, with everything you are, everything you do, and all that you have made me feel when I am with you." I confessed, as I reached into my pocket to take out the small box I had put there earlier when she had been getting ready. Slowly I kneeled down before her, and could only smile when her hands flew up to her face to cover her mouth as I held the box up towards her in the air between us and opened it slowly.

" Nevaeh, I have never known a woman like you and I never will again. Before you, my life had been empty and it was you who made it whole, even though I had never known that it was you I had been searching for all along. You make me happy in more ways than I could ever express and without you, that happiness would cease to exist. I want to share everything life has to offer with you, I want to grow old together, and have a family together. You are my life, the very air I breath, without you I would have no reason to live. You are the love of my life. Nevaeh, will you marry me." I heard her gasp again and silence engulfed us. I waited, kneeling with baited breath. It wasn't at all that dark, and I knew that by me being able to see her clearly, she would be able to see the ring within the box. I watched her glance at me then back at the ring only to look at me again. She did this a few more times until I couldn't wait any longer for her response.

" Nevaeh?" I spoke her name softly in nervous question, and before I could brace myself, she launched at me, with her arms winding around my neck as she cried one word out aloud.

" Yes!"

I had been so unprepared for such a reaction that the two of us nearly rolled into the pond beside us, but I managed to wrap my arm around her in time, and pull her close to me to roll away from the ponds edge and brought her to lie on top of me.
