A young man with eagle like wings flew over the sea. He was hungry, very hungry to try and eat a fish. Maybe he would get one that doesn't taste so bad!

Yeah, right.

With a shake of his head, he flew around the waters again, this time he saw movement. The movement of... A human!

Before the half eagle, half human hybrid could fly higher to get out of view, a merman splashed water onto the unexpecting halfa. The dark violet eyed boy stared in shock at the other halfa.

Slowly, the eagle landed on a nearby rock, the merman swimming with them.

"Hey! My names Lance!" The merman had brown hair and would have a light brown body if it weren't for the blue fish markings all over his body.

"Keith," Keith said, taking the merman's hand.

"Don't worry, we merpeople don't eat birds. Though, why are ya here? Normally halfa people stay away from the sea." The brown eyes of the other looked into the dark violet eyes of the halfa.

"Well, we don't have any food where I'm from... So I thought maybe that I could catch a fish or something to eat."

Lance nodded as though he understood before diving back into the water. Seconds later, he came back up with some sea plants and a few fishes.

"Here, wanna eat with me?" The merman's eyes sparkled with hope, a cheerful hope that made the eagleman sigh in response.

"Sure, you did get me something to eat after all."

The two ate their food in silence. Though it was a nice kind of silence.

"Well, I got to head back to the nest before Shiro freaks out." The winged man sighed. Fir once he wanted to stay.

"Hey, come back tomorrow at early noon then we can eat and play together!" Lance had those hopefull eyes again.

He knew that no man, nor halfa could resist them. That is how he lores his vitims to their deaths.

"... Maybe... I have to ask Shrio about it... Even then its still a maybe..." The halfa felt bad about saying this, but it was true.

Lance bit back a growl of anger and instead put on a maks of understanding. He had to be patient, not all halfas are the same.

"Don't worry, I understand." Keith gave the merman a happy smile.

"But I do promise to try and come." He jumped up into the air before flying back to the mainland.

The next day at early noon, the black haired eagleman sat on the rock they had met at. Slowly, early noon turned into early evening. Keith sighed before he was splashed behind, a childish laughter following.

Turning around, he saw the brown haired merman. He smiled at them before splashing them as well. They laughed as they started to play with the water. Neither one noticed the sun setting until it was almost too dark to see.

"Oh... I guess I was a bit later than I thought... I'm sorry..." Lance said with a sad look, even though mentally he was smirking. He wanted his prey to feel safe around him, to fall for his trap.

"No problem, you were probably doing something important. Well, see you tomorrow!" With a small wave, the halfa lepted into the air. It may have been dark, but his eagle side could see fairly well in the low lighting.

For a moment the merman was confused on how the bird boy wasn't falling for his tricks. But then he smirked darkly. He liked a challenge.

"This is new."

A few years passed and they always saw each other. They played, ate, even talked together until the late hours of the night. Every time Keith left with a promise of coming back. It as always confused Lance as he knew that soon the eagle would stop coming back. Soon the eagle boy would know his plan... And... He didn't want that to happen... it hurt to think like that.

"Hey! Wait!" Lance called out one night right as the other monster took flight.

He seemed different that day... More angry... Distant... The brown haired merman sighed as he thought he did something wrong.

'I could asked tomorrow... He always comes back...' He thought with a nod.

The next morning, the merman waited for his friend to come. He waited and waited. He waited for hours, only leaving to eat something. Soon, it was dark. The black haired boy never came.

"H-he'll come t-tomorrow... Yeah... He had something important to do..."

The next day was the same as the day before. As was the next and the one after that and  the one after that one. For months the merman never saw the halfa again. And every day he would slowly lose hope.

A year passed when the merman felt something come near his home. He had lost almost all hope that it was his Keith, but he swam as fast as his could to the surface.

There, in a small human boat was a black haired, dark violet eyed, boy with eagle like wings.

"Keith!" Lance pulled his old friend into a hug.

Keith laughed as he hugged his fishy friend.

"I'm sorry for not coming back. Humans took Shrio so I had to save him." they pulled away and stared at each other. "It took a small while, but I got him back... I also stole a boat of theirs."

Keith and Lance chuckled as they stared at each other. Keith's violet eyes held love and happiness as he looked down at his old friend. He had missed him a lot in the past year. He was so lonely, even with his father like friend. He missed laughing and playing with him as they used to.

Lance saw these emotions and the thoughts whirling into the other's mind. And he thought that he loved the other too. It was just... That over time, the merman thought less of this being before him as prey, but as a friend and soon... More than that.

Gripping the edges of the boat, Lance pulled himself up as he and the other, placed their lips together. They loved each other and nothing would ever stop that... Nothing ever will stop it.
