Daydream

A girl sighed as she left her eyes go out the window next to her. She never payed attention to class, but she did have the highest marks.

Her mind began to wonder as the golden leaves of fall danced with the wind. Her golden forest eyes took it all in, changing it to fit what she felt.

The golden leaves turned into fairies wearing gold and red dresses, dancing to a soothing song with their partner. Because the little fairies are blind, they don't see who their partner is, nor do the peers.

They floated around, being swept away to a land of beauty as they laughed and sang alone with the music.

The girl smiled softly, before being forced back into realty by a boy next to her. He screamed at the top of his lungs all because a spider had found it's way onto her hand.

While everyone, even the teacher ran to get away from the little being, the girl smiled at it. She wasn't scared of it as she knew it wasn't posious. Even if it was, she wouldn't care.

Picking it up gently, she opened a window next to her and placed it on the sill out side. Everyone calmed down, though the boy looked angry for some reason. This made him look like a huffing red dragon!

The girl giggled as she pulled out a book labeled: Book Of Dreams! Drawn by DayLight.

She opened to a fresh page and drew in the dancing leaves. She made sure to have a ribbon tied around their eyes so they couldn't see their partner as they danced in the sky. The next paged over, she drew something else.

She drew the spider as I young boy, her age, scared and alone. He looked up at a smiling giant woman. Her smile was sweet and kind as she sheilded him from the other giants' view.

"Mr. Yerys! Daylit is drawing in her notebook again!" Yelled the boy across from Daylight.

The girl rolled her eyes as she drew him next. He was in mid change between a human and a demon! She was nearly done with the very detailed horns, when the book was snatched from her! This was new.

"Sorry, Ms. Poper, but I need you to pay attention to todays lesson." The teacher spoke softly to the fourth grader.

All she did was smile and nod. Even though she didn't really want to pay attention, she also didn't want to cause anyone trouble.

The day went on as per usual, and since she was so good about losing her notebook, she got it back for recess! The perfect time to finish the drawing!

Just as she finished the horns and the outline of the wings, the book was ripped away from her! Her eyes snapped to the boy she sits next to. Even though he was mean to her most of the time, Daylight couldn't help but to kind of like the boy.

"Why don't you ever scream or yell?" The boy raised his voice as he glared at her.

"Because, I found no reason to. May I please finish my drawing? I want to make it look perfect!" Her voice pipped up in happiness as she smiled brightly at him.

The boy growled as he slammed the book down on the ground. The dirt slightly smearing into the once white pages.

"Cry over that, crybaby!" He yelled, shoving her to the dirt.

The girl only sighed with a shake of her head. Picking the book up, she examined it.

The page that had fell into the dirt, was when she was tring to draw the boy as a demon. The smugdes... made the picture look more rustic!

The girl gave a happy yip as she continue to draw the boy's wings. She made them so they were in a protective stance, trying to hide something speical to it. Her smiled widen even more as she made herself behind the creature.

Soon, the speical time of recess ended. Even still the girl didn't care very much. Some people called her laid back, though she called it not really caring.

That day, when she was packing up, her crush stole her book! Daylight only shrugged as she had plenty more and she could always redraw them on her computer. She only smiled and waved at the boys as she hopped in her mother's car.

The next day for Daylight went by as usual, though she didn't pull out her notebook. In truth, Daylight had forgotten to bring one. Still she didn't mind... Until recess.

"Here's your crappy artwork!" The boy threw her book onto the ground again, an angry look into his eyes as he glared at the small artist.

"Is something wrong?" Daylight asked innocently. She thought nothing was wrong with her art, really she didn't. In fact she only seemed to have improved in her short life! Her art would make some people guess that a teen drew it!

"Yeah there is! You drew me all wrong! I am not a dragon! In fact even if I was, why would I protect something as useless as you! I don't even like you!" He yelled, the anger in them burning brighter.

His cold as ice words struck the young girl's heart. It brought tears to her eyes, though she just laughed. Her laugh hiding the small bit of pain.

"Okay. I don't really care that you don't like my art... In fact I only drew what I saw... A demon fits someone like you... A dragon has too much... Courage. A cowardly demon is what you are." Daylight spoke, even though it hurt her more than his own words.

The boy's eyes as well as the small circle of people's eyes, widen in shock. That was the first time that Daylight had said anything near as hurtful! It was even a surprise that she could do it.

With a confident nod, the golden eyed girl picked up her book and walked off. Once far enough away, she began to draw again. This time... Sad as the leaves danced to cheer her up.

She drew herself in the middle of a dark forest. There were people there, just in the shadows of the trees as they laughed and sneered at her. The girl held a knife as red liquid feel from her arm. The golden fairies danced around the cry child as she drew with her blood.

Then... Daylight saw nothing, heard nothing... It all went black... It all went to nothing... Just a single name to call herself... Daydream...

"Daydream!" The boy cried out as an old part of the play ground hit her head. All anyone saw was how it cracked her head open.

The girl that the boy had secretly amired, now laid motionless. Blood flowing from her head.

"Teacher! Teacher!" Everyone screamed and yelled as the boy ran to the girl.

"D-daydream?" He asked as he held her. She was cold and motionless.

"Johnny! Get away from her!" A teacher yelled at the boy as they took him away from the little girl. Before it was completely out of reach, he swiped her journal. Looking at the picture... The picture and the sight he had caused. He was her death when he should have been her dragon... Should have protected her... She was right... He is a cowardly demon.
