The skies were a dark red color. The sign of war. The sign of the dead king. My father was dead.
I frowned. I may not have loved the man, but I still felt sorry for his land. Without his power, the land would lose all of the magical abilities. All the people would die, or be at their weakest points. Wars will break out to claim this land as their own.
I would not be affected. I was disowned from his family. I did not need magic to fight, all I needed was my own two hands. And that was all I needed.
"Tara!" A guard's voice cried out from behind me as I still stared at the red skies.
"Yes, Sebastian?" I turned around to meet my old friend.
He panted softly since he had ran with the heavy silver armor.
"Your father... He is on his death bed... He wants you."
I was confused. If father was not dead then...
"NO! He can not be dead!" I yelled as realization hit me.
"He will be missed."
Tears brimmed my silver eyes, but they did not fall, nor will I allow them.
"Then... Lets hurry..." I say snapping my fingers, teleporting us just outside my father's room.
I softly knocked, not really wanting to see this man. The man that had made my childhood hell... That had disowned me for loving a servant!
"Come in, Tara." His gruff voice called out before a fit of coughing.
I walked in with anger burning in my eyes. His once bright, harsh gray eyes have dulled to a near white color. It didn't seem like him to just lay there and take death slowly. Something was up if he wanted me. My brother was dead, so why did he need me? There was sister as well...
"What does a foolish king like you want with a mere peasant?" I all but growled out.
He just chuckled at me. His eyes, so dead.
"I may have disowned you, but you are the only one left in this family to take over that kingdom... You have grown stronger, little girl. You are not as fragile as when you had left with those tears in your eyes." He spoke softly as though his words were the last. As though he wanted me to say yes to something.
"What do you want, father? Where is sister? Shouldn't she be here?" I questioned, now I was scared for this.
"She... Lilith... Had taken her life the day of darkness." He looked down in sadness.
The day of Darkness was when those that had committed sins would be killed... It was the darkest of all days. It would make all sinners confess because of the magical day that effected all... All but the royals.
Sister... knew her sins as did I... That was why the skies for months after were a red blue. She couldn't take her sins... So she took her life...
"You are the last heir to the throne... Please, I beg of you to please take it. Please save the people. Please, do not let my mistakes hurt the innocent." He begged me.
Sighing, I knew that this might be his last few seconds. That if I did not take it, those people would have to suffer for it... I would not be able to handle that.
"Yes, father. I will take the throne and protect the people. " I told him, with a small bow.
He raised his hand as he was surrounded by an unearthly glow. He seemed to have shoved the red glow towards me. It was cold like mist and seemed to act like a snake, wrapping itself around me.
