Imagine:

"What are you thinking about?" Y/n asks me. She looks up at me as her head rests on my lap. We've spent yesterday and much of today walking around in parks and staying in at my house, keeping each other company because we know it'll be dead without one another for a long time.

I smile at her. Her eyes looks tired and sad since she insisted on staying up to watch over me whilst I slept. She's not ready to let me go, and I'm not ready to leave her either. "Nothing. I'm gonna miss you so much, but think of how soon we'll be reunited again in New York. You're still coming right?"

She laughs gently. "Of course Shawn, but..." Her eyes look away from mine and she bites her lip anxiously.

"But what?"

She sits up beside me on the floor. "What if things don't work out? I mean, you're on the road and meeting new people all the time, and I'm stuck at home longing for your presence and wanting you to be safe-"

I pull her close to me and she rest her head on my chest. I kiss her head gently, her hair so soft and berry-scented. I'm gonna miss Y/n so much, having her in my arms and protecting her. "Don't say that Y/n, please. I will admit it, it'll be hard. I'll be worrying just as much as you – what if you find someone who will treat you better than I can? Someone who will always be there for you?"

She laughs gently. "I've already found that person – you. No one else will treat me better than you Shawn."

I smile and kiss her on the lips softly, not wanting to let go. I pull out a small pouch from my pocket and give it to Y/n. "Open it," I whisper.

She follows my order and gasps. "Shawn! You didn't have to!" She starts to cry and hugs me tight. "I love you Shawn."

I had given her a necklace with a heart shape hanging from the chain, and the words 'I love you' engraved onto the heart with my initials underneath it. I take the necklace from her trembling hands and put it on for her. She turns around and beams at me, her eyes lit up with sparks as she wipes her tears of happiness away.

I smile and kiss her cheek gently. "So you'll never be alone. I love you too Y/n."
