Part 2-imagine:
Shawn's POV:
"Help! I need a doctor now!" Y/n says in a high pitch voice for a Polly pocket doll.
I make a loud 'wee-woo' sound but Y/n stops me. "That's wrong. Isn't it nee-naw nee-naw?"
"Does it matter?"
"Shawn! Y/n! Dinner's ready!"
We hurry downstairs as they serve chicken and vegetables on plates.
"No peas, please," Y/n says.
"What's wrong with peas?" I ask her.
"Haven't you heard? They're the bogies of the green bogeyman."
My mind is blank. "What's that?"
Y/n sighs. "It's a weird creature that finds children and eats them."
"Oh."
"Aren't there any here? They live in forests. I thought Picking was full of them."
"It's Pickering," I correct her. "And no, green bogeymen don't exist here, or in the world."
She reaches forward and her soft hand covers my mouth. "Shhh, don't say that. They can hear you."
She gives a cheeky grin and lets go of her hand from my mouth. "We can go hunting for them one day, if you want to."
I shake my head. "I'm okay thanks."
She shrugs and starts to eat her dinner.
"Y/n!" Her dad yells. "Use a napkin please, don't ruin your shirt."
I wake up to Aaliyah slapping my face, so I gently push her away. "Go wake Mom and Dad up," I say sleepily.
I roll out of bed and brush my teeth, eager to make the most out of the last day of summer. I walk downstairs and pour milk into a bowl, topping it with chocolate cheerios. I munch on the cereal. After I finish, I pack some things to take to the treehouse to meet Brian, Nash and Cam. We've planned to have a Nerf war, where the best fighter has to make it to the top to retrieve a prize. I think of Cam's new skateboard, and wish I asked for one in August. I load my Nerf gun and shove it in my backpack. I see Mom and Dad awake, so I tell them I'm heading to the tree-house.
"Be careful Shawn! And make sure you come back for lunch today - none of those pop tart junk okay?"
"Yes Mom," I groan.
I ruffle Aaliyah's curls as she waves goodbye at me and I cycle away to the treehouse. It was built by Cam's dad when he was younger, so it sort of got passed down to Cam. We found it at the start of summer, and it's where we've been most of the time inbetween our family holidays. I ditch my bike to the side and climb up the stairs to the top. I knock the door three times, kick the door twice and then turn the door knob.
It's just me. I switch on a light and throw myself onto a beanbag. After a few minutes, I hear some knocking and kicking before Nash and Cam barge through.
"Dude, you ready for the Nerf war?" Cam asks me. He pulls out a red bandana from his pocket and tightens it around his head. "I feel like I've been waiting my whole life for this moment."
There's a knock on the window that scared us all.
"Is that Brian?" I ask. I laugh and the others join. "I bet he's planning a surprise attack." I draw back the curtains and stare out the window, no one in sight. Then suddenly, a face appears.
"Arghhhh!" We all scream.I sigh as I realise it's only Y/n.
"What's she doing here?!" Cam yells. "Weapons at the ready men, our location has been intruded by a girl, I repeat, a girl."
I pull my hand up. "Stop guys, I know her."
"You know a girl who's not from school?"
"Relax guys, she's my new neighbour."
"Man, I feel sorry for you dude."
The door knob rattles. I walk up and I'm about to open the door when it swings open, knocking me to the side. I wince a little as I prop myself up. The dust that blew up settles and she stands there. Y/n. My heartbeat starts to quicken. Is this happening? Am I crushing on girl? A cool one at that, able to karate kick a door open.
"Oops," Y/n says.
