Imagine:

It's been two months since I've started at Pine Ridge and I guess things are going well. I've made several new friends here and there if they even bother talking to an outsider like me. But my number one is Shawn, plus his group of friends, who are alright after all. It feels like I've known them my whole life, and they've made settling in at Pine Ridge easier for me. Shawn and I have grown really close quickly in a matter of days, and I keep getting the urge to kiss his lips, to feel his lips on mine... again. I'm pretty sure we've never met before, but what if we did? Maybe that's why Shawn refers to something of the past to do with me. What if there was a past between us, but how? I've only just moved to Pickering...

"Y/n?" Shawn calls me.

I lift my head up from my book and see that half the class has disappeared. "Oops, did I miss the bell?"

Shawn nods his head and leans against a desk. "You sure have. Mr Benson said the history assignment's due on Monday."

I roll my eyes. "Oh please, you've already ruined my Friday."

We both snicker as the teacher walks back into the classroom and gives us a questioning look. I pack my things up and we walk to my locker to grab the rest of my things. We head to Shawn's locker to pick up his stuff before we make our way to the car park.

Shawn's Jeep is the only car in the whole row of parking spaces. I take my time getting into the car and find Shawn rubbing his hands together with the heating on full blast.

I laugh lightly and click my seat belt in place. "It's not that cold Shawn."

"Oh really?"

"Yeah, I've been in colder places for longer. Like when..." my voice trails off into silence as I try to work my brain.

"Like when what?" Shawn asks.

I smile weakly. "N-nothing."

The engine starts and we head home. My mind went fuzzy and weird again. It's too strange, and it's happened since I've started being with Shawn, trying to remember things of the past that I thought couldn't exist. Maybe it's time I've spoken to my mum.

"Did you wanna stay over for a bit Shawn? Mum's making lasagne."

He shakes his head and starts to drum the side of the steering wheel. "I... uh, I'm not sure if that's a good idea."

"Oh really? She's keen to meet you. Actually, she said she knows you for some reason? And she wanted to talk about something..."

He hits the break a little too sharply and we jerk forwards in our seats. "We're here," he says quietly.

   Shawn's POV:
"That's some great lasagne Laura- I mean, Mrs Y/l/n," I say. Luckily Y/n's out of earshot, and she didn't question it. Is today finally going to be the day where I get answers? But if I've not had contact for this long, I'm too scared to find out.

"Honey?" Y/n's mom calls. "Do you mind going out to the shop and getting a few things for me?"

"Can Shawn come with me?" I hear her reply. I smile at the way she says my name. It sounds so different coming from her mouth.

"Not this time- I mean, no! He needs to stay here first."

She peeps her head around the door and looks at us both. "He's mine after though," she says and then blushes. "Wait, I mean, he's supposed to be with me-" she groans and leaves the house, shutting the front door behind her.

Laura sighs and plants her face in her hands, shaking her head slowly. "It's been so long Shawn. How are you? Look at you. You've grown into a fine young man already. How long ago did we last see each other?"

"4 years ago," I reply sadly.

"4 years? It feels like longer. Oh god. I'm so sorry Shawn. We would've stayed in contact, but I didn't know where you or Karen lived, and the only contact of you was on Y/n's phone."

She smiles weakly across the table and sighs. "At least she started at Pine Ridge and met you again."

"But she doesn't know who I am. Well, who I was to her," I say quietly.

"She wouldn't would she?"

"What do you mean?"
