Imagine:
I feel a pair of hands cover my eyes. "Happy 1 year anniversary babe," Shawn says.
He turns me around and releases his grip. We're stood infront of a table and there's a bouquet of red roses in a soft peach colour. My favourite colour for roses.
"Aw Shawn! You didn't have to!" I tell him as I tip toe to reach his lips. I kiss them softly, wanting to do it forever.
He pulls away and smiles down at me, holding me at my waist. "You'll never guess where we're going today Y/n," he says.
He reaches to the table to a small carousel I didn't see and winds it up. It starts to play fairground music and Shawn returns to me, taking my hand and twirling me around.
My mind instantly flashbacks to our first date, at the summer fun fair. He'd taken me there for our first date because he knew how much I loved them. On that day, he went on every single ride with me, and convinced me to go into the haunted house. I laugh at the memory of screaming and running away from the actors, Shawn by my side and equally scared.
I look up at him now and he's grinning. "Are we going to the fun fair? The same one as last year...?"
He nods his head and I leap into his arms, kissing his cheeks in happiness. "I love you Shawn!"
"I love you too Y/n."
We arrived at the fun fair an hour ago and it's like our first date all over again. We went to a mini shooting range and Shawn won a unicorn teddy for me. We went to the claw machines and I managed to pick out a small lion bear for Shawn to keep.
I place my hand in Shawn's and we walk slowly to the dodgems area. We both get into separate karts along with other people and start driving around. Shawn chases me as he tries to bump his car into mine, making me swerve around in circles and bump other cars.
Once we get out I drag Shawn to the candy floss stall and order an extra large size for both of us to share. We walk and take buts out of the floss. I peer over at Shawn and laugh. The edges of his lips start to go pink, and bits of the candy floss stick to the cornets of his mouth. My god is this boy so adorably cute. I giggle lightly and rub his lips gently with my thumb.
"You got a little something just there," I say.
Shawn's lips stretch out into a smile, his lips looking pink as ever and so plump, so kissable. As if reading my thoughts, he replies to me. "You could have just kissed me instead. And my lips would taste like cotton candy."
"We did that once and it did not end well," I say, remembering the day we went to a theme park. "You covered my lips with the sticky stuff, and it was blue candy floss!"
"Oh yeah," he says. "At least people knew you were mine."
"Not funny Shawn," I say as I roll my eyes, but my cheeks flush as he plants a kiss on my jawline.
"Come on babe, I've booked the last time slot so we can view the sunset."
We walk hand in hand and finish the candy floss before queuing for the Ferris wheel. There's a few couples waiting in the line ahead of us, one couple that looked like they were in grade 8 or 9. I hug Shawn closer and remember back to when we were in 9th grade, when we started talking to each other by the lockers.
We both get inside a pod and it slowly moves up. The sunset is the same as I remembered it from last year. As the pod remains stationary right at the top, Shawn turns around to face opposite me and presents a small pouch. I gasp as he opens it up and takes out a small and delicate chain necklace with a charm hanging on the end. It's a small heart with Shawn's initials and mine etched onto it.
Shawn pulls me onto his lap and fastens the necklace around my neck.
"Happy 1 year anniversary babe," he whispers into my ear. "I love you so damn much Y/n."
Tears start to well up in my eyes. I have such a sweet and thoughtful boyfriend. "I love you too Shawnie."
I tilt my head back and kiss his lips, faintly tasting of candyfloss. I pull away and rest my head on his shoulder as we watch the sunset.
