Xander and I were in a dark room with a projector projecting stars all over the place. The room was dome shaped and a bit chilly. People laid in sleeping bags around us and some sat on pillows. There were no chairs.A soft song played as the make believe stars flowed and moved all around us. It was a huge room and it was beautiful. A dark dome with shiny make-believe stars. It was kind of like being at the movies but instead, the walls and ceiling was the movie screen.
"Excited? ", he asked.
I was extremely excited.
He walked me to a spot with a blanket and two pillows.
"Lay down. ", he whispered and I did.
Our backs were to the ground and we were staring at the ceiling. Everyone began to be quiet as a voice began to narrate a story. The voice was soothing and calm and echoed from a speaker. Xander held my hand as he laid beside me. This was not an ordinary date and that's what made it so special.
"This is one of my favourite stories. ", he whispered.
"Ooh, what's it about? ", I whispered back.
The dim lights luminited the outline of his jaw.
"It's like Romeo and Juliet except instead of having two feuding families, you have to two races from different planets feuding. "
"Like aliens? You mean one race had three eyes while the other had seven? ", I giggled.
He laughed.
"No, Rebecca, it's two races of human with small differences, one race had blue eyes while the other had green. "
"like us. "
"Just like us. ", I couldn't see his face but i was sure that he was smiling.
"So what happens? ", I asked.
"Romeo had greens eyes and Juliet had blue eyes. When their families forbade them from being with each other, Romeo did something harsh which caused him to loose his sight. Fearing that his Juliet will be upset over the loss of his eyes he went to her planet and he confronted her... she didn't leave him. She still loved him. "
"Eventually their families allowed them to stay together under one condition, since Romeo could not see her - she would need to wear a blind fold over her eyes so that they were both equal. So she did. Whenever people asked her what she saw in Romeo that she was willimg to give up her sight she would smile and look away. Guess why? ", he asked with a little bit of energy in his voice.
"Her love didn't see just a pretty face but a soul instead? ", I responded quickly.
"That and she would say, 'If I told you, you would fall in love with him too. ' That's how I feel about you Rebecca, I don't want anyone to take what's mine. I love you so much. You're not just a girl, you're thee girl, my girl - you're a force and I'm attracted to you. You pull me wherever you are, you draw me out from even the darkest of caves. You're the light at the of a tunnel. "
He gave me butterflies when he said that. I look at him and I just blank out. He slays me all the time and I don't care. With just one look I could drop the world itself if he needed me. I'd do it all for him. He's my everything.
I rested my head on his chest and he kissed my hair. I felt all tingly where he kissed me.
"I'm ready. "
I felt him tense up a little.
"You are? "
I nodded against his chest. He knew what I was talking about - he was waiting patiently for me to say that I was ready to get married to him - I don't care what people think or say, I love him and he loves me. We will find a way around the prophecy and I will grow old with him.
His muscles relaxed against me and he kissed my forehead and he wrapped his arms around me. He was so warm and he smelt divine. Like a blanket, he warmed me and kept me safe. I rested my head on his chest while the story was narrated.
The star's formed constellations which formed figures and shapes of people to match the story. Each star was joined to the next by a line. I could see Romeo and Juliet clearly. The figures of their bodies were made clear by stars and as the story progressed the stars changed shape to form the scene being narrated.
In the end, Juliet dies... a man who Juliet didn't choose over Romeo kills Romeo. Juliet was unable to bare the thought of existing in a world without Romeo and she too, turns the dagger on herself.
Her last words were "we'll live on in the stars and have our infinite piece of perfectnesss, my love. The heavens await us."
I personally prefer the original story but Xander enjoyed this one so I was not going to kill the moment.
He looks and talks about you as if you put the stars in the sky... Rose's voice echoed through my mind as he hugged onto me. I watched him watch the story. His emotions were so clearly visible.
"I look at him the same too. ", I whispered so faintly that he couldn't hear me.
