A few guards stayed behind in the panic rooms. A few were sent to triple security in the dungeons to make sure the criminals didn't try anything. The panic rooms were white and so clean that you could do surgery inside it. There were people serving food. Storm sat on a chair and stared into nothing. I put a blanket around her shoulders and she snapped back into reality.
"I'm scared. "she said.
"Me too... ", I admitted.
Anna ran up to us and hugged Storm. She was too young to understand what was happening.
"Mommy, when is daddy going to come back from work? ", Anna asked.
That broke me.My knees went weak and I wanted to fall and cry... but what good would it do? My heart skipped a beat.
Most of the men who were strong enough to fight had to accompany Xander and Liam to war. Those left behind were the elderly, pregnant woman, and the disabled.
Some woman who were strong enough to fight went to war as well. I wanted to fight but the Luna had to support her people.
"How long have they been gone? ", I asked a guard.
"4 hours now, Royal Luna. ", she said.
I should have heard from them by now. I wanted so desperately to send a message through the mind link but that would distract Xander.
I went around giving out blankets and food to the people and talking to them like a friend would. It brought a smile to their face that I cared. I did care because they were my people and they were willing to sacrifice so much for me - too much... I wasn't worth the fight...
A big commotion erupted from one of the panic rooms and a guard tired to contain it.
I rushed to the sight to find a woman and a guard fighting on the floor.
I pulled the woman off and my eyes filled with horror.
"Lyra! - Get off that guard and contain yourself. ", I boomed.
I thought she was gone. What was she doing here. Seeing her face brought up memories I had hoped to have forgotten.
There was a nagging pain in my neck. I felt uneasy when I saw her. She didn't look at me properly which made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
"My apologies, Luna. I'm here on some business, "She spat and snarled at me, " This is all your fault. If you hadn't insisted in being with Xander none of this would have happened. I told you'd pay bitch! Long live the leader of the rogues! ", she shouted and threw a silvery but thick liquid towards me. I ducked and a few guards tackled her. She was working with rogues - which means Jacob had numbers. Xander was outnumbered. I had to warn him. I tried sending a message but I couldn't get through. The mind link was blocked.
They pinned her down on the floor and she laughed like a maniac.
"You've been working with the leader of the rogues! Tell me everything that you know! ", people formed a crowd around us.
"You stupid whore- you've already lost. I told you that you'd regret it. Ask kiara and her followers. ", she laughed almost psychotically.
Ask Kiara?The liquid on the floor was a strong dose of wolfsbane that evaporated into the air. It was lethal - that's why she tried to throw it at me. The gas was responsible for the block on the mind link. How could the guard's be so stupid to let her in!
Reality dawned upon me. Someone let her in - the guard's couldn't be trusted.
"Bring her with me outside the panic room.", I ordered the guard's. The people were becoming restless and anxious with Lyra around.
They slammed and pinned her against the wall harshly.
"What do you know? ", I boomed and she winched from the pain. If looks could kill she'd be dead by now.
"Ask kiara! ", she giggled.
My patience has worn thin and I flung her onto the ground.
"Tell me what you know! "
"Kiaraaaaa. ", she sung.
I lifted her on her feet and punched her so hard that a few teeth fell out. Yet again, her blood was all over the floor. I was shaking with rage.
She had the audacity to laugh which infuriated me even more. I kicked her and she was on the floor crying.
"Shes had enough! She's not going to talk. "- Grace shouted. I was so deep into beating the crap out of her that I didn't realise I was taking all of my frustration out on her - it's not like she didn't deserve it.
"Go check on Kiara. "- Grace said.
"Take her to the dungeons - make sure she's kept in the same room as a completely brutal wolf."
Everything sped up. The clock was ticking and I was rushing down the stairs.
With that being said I ran to the dungeons that Kiara was in. Something was wrong - I could feel it. Kiara was working with Jacob and Jacob was working with the leader of the rogues. I had to warn Xander before things were too late - but first I needed to get enough information from kiara.
I ran to her holding cell and it was deserted-she escaped . The guards and prisoners were knocked out cold. The scent of wolfsbane lingered in the air. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it was going to explode.
We've been sabotaged. Someone knew what our moves were and Xander was fighting a lost battle. I had to tell him what was going on before I loose him. I had to find him before Jacob and the leader of the rogues did.
I ran up to the panic room and found Storm.
"I have to find Xander - we're in trouble. Stay here and watch over the people. Make sure nothing happens. Keep them calm. You are the female Beta. You can do this. ", I said quickly. I spoke in one breath.
"Wait. Slow down! Are you crazy - you can't go into the middle of a war.It's suicide! ", she began to shiver.
"I have to. I have to save Xander and Liam.", I began to explain and she understood.
"Be careful out there. ", she hugged me before I left.
I took a few guards with me to find Xander. He's left 4 hours ago so I need to find him. He must have covered a lot of ground during that time.
