When word finally got around that I was back in the palace the pack was buzzing with gossip. People would stare at me from afar but they knew better than to say anything and go against their king and queen.The palace was busier than ever because everyone was preparing for my wedding. I went with Storm to meet Grace (the dressmaker ). Storm was glad to have a break from her busy schedule.
"Royal Luna. ", Grace greeted.
"Please, call me Rebecca. ", I smiled and she nodded.
"What have you been up to? ", Storm asked Grace while she measured my waist.
"Oh you know the usual... busy with work and Adam is going through a puppydog phase with me. ", she responded.
"Who's Adam? ", I asked.
"My mate.He's so sweet and you wouldn't believe how we met. "
"This is a funny story, you'll enjoy it. ", Storm smiled widely.
"I was walking home after a long day of work and Adam was carrying a bunch of weapons to the training center. He's a royal guard you see.As faith would have it he literally bumped into me and a weapon fell on my toe. I was so angry with him and I demanded that he doesn't touch me because of the pain I was in. He bent down to pick up the weapon and he grazed my leg and we realised we were mates. "
"Go on. ", I edged.
"Well he began to fumble like an idiot when we were supposed to be fawning over each other and in the midst of it all he got up quickly and hit his head on my nose... he ended up breaking my nose causing blood to go everywhere. He stepped forward to help me as I cried only to stand on the toe the weapon fell on. I screamed again and he tripped over his feet and I just lost it. "
"She made him feel so bad about that, that he actually sang outside her window at night to soothe her pain. She wouldn't let him kiss her until her nose was fixed. It was hilarious. Wherever she went he followed. ", Storm laughed and clutched her stomach.
I laughed when Grace finished the story.
"They're both so clumsy it's unbelievable. ", I laughed.
"You two are just jealous. Our love story is so cute... minus the blood, nosebreaking and tripping over each other and you have a perfect and romantic story. ", Grace laughed.
"Don't forget the toe stepping. ", I giggled.
"How can I forget. ", she laughed.
"So Storm how's motherhood treating you?", I asked while she sipped on a smoothie.
"It's exhausting - a mother's job is never done. Anna picked up a cuss word while she was at school... I can't seem to let her drop it. Liam says it's a plea for attention since Rylan was born - we love Anna so now we're trying to spend more time with her you know. "
I giggled. She's so innocent and hearing a bad word come out of her mouth must be so offensive to those around her.
"Soooo have and Xander had the baby talk yet? ", Storm raised her brow.
I froze.
"Errrr... so you say she picked up the cuss word at school? "
"Stop changing the subject.He's going to be 27 in two months time and you're already 25- your biological clock is ticking. ", Grace laughed.
"We have enough time, Grace, " I blushed. "We didn't... we're taking things slow. I've only been back three weeks and -"
"Taking things slow? You're getting married to him, you're his mate and his queen. ", Storm laughed.
"When you put it that way it makes it seem as if we're avoiding that topic. I mean I have thought about having his child once or twice - okay maybe a lot but I don't know how to bring it up it's not like I can go up to him and say 'Hey, let's talk I about having kids in the foreseeable future. '"
"You do realise we are talking about the man who literally worships the ground you walk on. I mean call me crazy but the guy goes around telling people you put the stars in the sky. Honey - he's head over heals for you. ", Storm said while she shipped on her smoothie.
"By the way - how's things going in paradise? I bet you two are having it out. Like jungle crazy in the bedroom right? "
"Storm. ", I blushed.
"I'm just asking. Best friends fill each other on in this thing. How do you know it's the best sex we've ever had if we've only ever had one sexual partner? "
"You're right. I was a Virgin when I met Adam. ", Grace laughed. I liked her she was always so welcoming and ready to talk about anything.
"Emphasis on 'was'. ", Storm air quoted.
I giggled and she blushed.
"I guess if he can make you-", Storm spoke but I interrupted.
I looked at the clock and I was half an hour late. I was supposed to force myself into a meeting with Xander. He was discussing Jacob today and I had to be there even if Xander didn't want me too.
"I'm late! We'll continue later ok? ", I put on my clothes so quickly after removing all the threads around me.
I ran to his office until I was panting. I took a knee outside to camp myself and then I went inside. Everyone's eye's turned to me as I just barged in. Liam hid a laugh and Xander was in the middle of speaking when I entered. The men in the room bowed as I sat next to Xander.
Xander's eyes drifted from me back to the men. He was serious and his eyes were cold and stern... liam held the same 'I don't have emotions 'look plastered on his face.
"As I was saying, We've tracked him all the way to Sweden but everything just blanks out. His tracks disappear into thin air almost as if he were invisible or a ghost. I suggest that he's masking his scent with that if the humans and cutting us off. "
"If that's so do we have durestriction to search for him in Sweden? ",a man asked. He was built and around the age of 36.
"It's been too long. He knew the Luna was there and he knows she's left. He's probably left Sweden... he's closer than we think. ", Liam said.
I throat closed in and it was dry. He's closer than we think?
"Then it would go to show that he means business. He knows that the king has men who will fight so he wouldn't just take a chance and come close to us without any back up - if he's here and we all know he is, he means war. ", I said and everyone looked at me with seriousness masking their true emotions.
"We know... we've are prepared for him... we've known that we were at war ever since you've come back. Many rogues have been around the border than usual... We've always known he wants war Royal Luna. ", a man said.
They've known? Why didn't Xander tell me that things are so so bad. I knew it was bad but not to this extent. Why didn't he tell me? He can't give me that bullshit excuse that he wanted to protect me and not burden me with the worry of knowing this. I am his queen. I have the right to know when we are at the brink of war.
My eyes turned to Xander and he looked at me with sorry eyes.
