"We are here Miss Sullivan." The driver spoke out. Breaking the silence in the car and jarring me away from my pending thoughts.
I looked out my window. I couldn't see much since a hill was in the way, but once I opened the car door, the sound of crashing waves met my ears.
"Can you wait for a bit. I don't know how long I'll be," I asked the driver.
"Of course. I'll just finish hearing my audiobook. It's getting to the good stuff," she smiled excitedly.
I laughed, grateful that I wasn't intruding much.
"I won't be long. I'm just going to do a quick scan of the area."
She nodded her head, understandingly.
I closed the door after taking the warm cloth with me since it was a bit chilly. I wrapped the blanket around myself as I made my way over the hill and onto the sandy beach.
I walked closer to the shoreline, kicking sand in the air on my way. I looked to my right then my left to see it clear of any human being.
"Calibur," I growled out, frustrated.
"May I ask what I did to make you sound so angry with me," I heard a voice ask. I turned around to see him sitting a few feet away, his arms wrapped loosely around his legs as he hugged them close to his chest. He was wearing the same clothes as this morning, nothing fancy but handsome as always.
"Gosh, I've been looking everywhere for you," I knelt down beside him, giving him a side hug. Relief flooding throughout my being causing me to tighten my grasp on him.
Slowly realizing the situation before him, he returned my hug, nestling his head between my shoulder and neck. His nose nuzzled my neck that it tickled me and I started laughing, tilting my head to the side so he wouldn't do it again.
He smiled as he let me go. His eyes slowly looked from my shoulders to my waist.
"Is that my blanket," he asked.
I stared wide-eyed at him, knowing I was caught but still acted dumb as I looked down at the blanket I had wrapped around me. His Invader Zim blanket that Ty told me was his favorite which I took from his home in California.
"What? I don't know what you are talking about." I pulled the blanket closer to my being as I looked off into the sea. It looked so beautiful especially since the water was reflecting the stars from above making it look as if the water was sparkling.
"You don't have to lie about it. It's not like I am going to get mad." I looked over at him but he was also looking into the sea. "Unless..."
"Unless what," I asked him, tilting my head to the side, a bit confused.
"Unless you were someone else." He looked at me with those eyes of his. They shined under the stars, taking me in and not letting go. I was entranced. "I wouldn't be able to get mad at you. At least, not for long." He smiled and I felt ready to melt right there and then and I probably did, well my heart melted for sure.
"But we've been ignoring each other for the past few weeks. I thought you were mad at me then. And that was a pretty long time if you ask me."
"I never was mad at you," he spoke softly.
"But-" I shook my head confused.
"You were always on my mind. I was just trying to push you out, that was why I ignored you. I felt like you consumed my thoughts night and day, every little thing I did, I would always think, "what would Everly say?" or "I wonder what Everly is doing right this moment". I couldn't stop. I wanted to be more than your friend but then I thought, if we ever did have something, I would just ruin you. I would make you hate me so I thought, being friends would be better than you hating me. I want you to looking back on these moments and enjoy them, I didn't want to destroy that for you."
