I opened my eyes to see an expressionless crowd along with the judges. I just stood in the middle of the stage in my turquois butterfly dress. I rolling up the sleeves of my black cropped blazer which rolled down during my performance, as I waited for them to express some kind of emotion. Was I that bad?
After a few seconds the crowd went into an up roar, cheering wildly. As for the judges, they held smiles on their faces as they clapped along with the crowd.
What the heck?
Nick spoke first once the crowd died down. "May I say 'wow'? Where did that come from? I thought you said you never sang before?"
"Nick stop asking so much questions and just say what you think so we could get a chance to speak," Shay grumbled beside Nick.
"You were amazing," Nick said in a hurry seeing Shay was getting ready to speak out his thoughts next. "And I would love to mentor you." He said as he griped his mic in his hands while he leaned toward it trying to get all his thoughts out into the open. Shay spoke next.
"That was astounding. You had this type of tinge of uniqueness in your voice that was hard not to notice. Something completely different from the other vocalist in this competition." The crowd cheered to Shay's words. "But your performance wasn't perfect. There are several people way better than you in this show."
"Boo," the crowd disagreed this time.
"That doesn't matter right now. Because we could fix that later. If we agree to get her through," Shelby said.
"It was perfect for me," Julie shrugged as the crowd cheered saying they agreed.
"Ok, then. Let's vote." Shay said. "Nick?"
"Absolutely, a billion, trillion, gazillion – "
"Get to the point," Shay cut him off.
"Yes's." Nick said excitedly as he spread out his arms and rose up from his seat while giving Shay a glare for not letting him finish. "Shelby?"
"Of course. Yes." Shelby said. "Julie?"
"It's a definite yes from me." Julie said. "Shay?"
"You got four yes's. Congratulations! You're through to the next round." Shay said with a huge smile on his face.
The crowed broke out into cheers but I just stood in place on the stage. I looked at the judges thinking they must be lunatics for passing me. Then I looked up to the crowd which made a small smile tug on my lips. I was mesmerized with the scene before me.
I want this. Was all I thought of as I felt the crowd's energy.
I still believed the judges were lunatics but I just went along playing with them. Even though they might be serious right now.
"Thank you. Thank you so much for this opportunity." I waved before me at all the people before turning around to go backstage.
Once I handed back the mic to one of the crew members, I went back towards the waiting area where Eco and Holden were waiting. Eco came crashing to me almost toppling me backwards.
"You did amazing. I knew you could do it," Eco said with a huge smile on her face, looking full of pride.
I raised my eyebrows at what she just said.
"You knew," I questioned her.
She looked a bit frightened but covered it so quickly I might have been illusioning it. "Of course. I'm your best friend. I'll be supporting you in everything you do even if your chances are slim. That's what best friends are for right?"
"Right," I answered but wasn't so convinced at what she said.
"My turn," Holden said as he came crashing into us, hugging both Eco and I. "Congrats Everly! You made it to the next round."
"Thank you and you too. You made it to the next round also. I'm just glad I won't be alone through this short journey I have ahead of myself."
"Think positive Everly. You'll probably be one of the last competitors leaving this competition, I bet."
"Thanks Holden, but I doubt that." I then began to head towards the exit where Eco was already waiting at.
"I bet you will." I heard Hold whisper under his breath.
I turned back to look at Hold. "Did you say something?"
"Nope," he said while popping the p, as he walked where Eco was standing.
"Come on Everly. I don't have all day. You do remember we have school tomorrow right?" Eco shouted.
This sure was one heck of a weird day.

Sorry for the short and forever taking update, but at least it's something, right?
But I've been busy lately and haven't had time to write. Which to be honest sucked. But I was also having some hard time how to get the story rolling. Don't worry I have a lot in mind for this story, I just don't know how to get to those interesting scenes, but I'll figure it out.
So for the moment -
