(29) Aubri
My fists clench and unclench as Liam shuts the door to my apartment, leaning back against it and running his hand through his hair. We can both hear Sophia mumbling at Harry and drunkenly yelling at Chris.
She’s laughing and saying “It was just a misunderstanding. Oops” in a sing-song voice. That voice is grating on my last nerves
Go home Sophia. You’re drunk.
Liam watches me as I pace through the living room. Loki’s ears are flattened on his head as he watches me sigh in frustration.
“She was drunk Liam. I didn’t want to hurt her, so the next best thing was tackling her and sitting on her,” I huff out, acknowledging the stinging sensation on my cheek. Raising a hand to my face, I flinch as my fingertips are sporting red.
The drunken wench scratched me.
Bad enough she’s got Liam so messed up that he barely sleeps.
He thinks I don’t know. He hangs out until I fall asleep and then he’s out, off somewhere in the house, either working out or writing off in a corner somewhere. Somewhere before 6, He’ll climb back into the bed and take a nap basically, before I wake up. He’s done this for two days now. Li says that he wants to hang out between our two apartments, but I know better. Whatever happened between the two of them is really messing with him.
I sigh as I feel my cheek tighten and begin to feel a bit itchy. I probably should go clean the scratch she gave me.
Turning on my heel, I walk down the hall into my bedroom, with Loki on my heels. He’s been an interesting new friend. It’s like Loki is aware of everything and trying to make it better.
He’s just a dog, my subconscious reminds me.
Opening the medicine cabinet, I pull out a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and some gauze. Dabbing at my cheek, I wince as the cleaning solution begins to fizz and turn white.
Liam enters the bathroom and leans against the wall as he watches me clean my face.
“Sorry about that. Didn’t expect her to try and charge me to get to you,” he offers as he takes the gauze from my hands and tilts my chin so I’m looking him in the eye while he cleans my face, his touch gentle.
“Are you okay?”
“I’ve lived through worse. I’m fine,” I tell him as I remove myself from his gaze and walk into my bedroom. Grabbing a pair of pajama pants, I walk into the bathroom and gesture him out so I can change. Pulling on the pants, I walk back into the room and he’s already in my bed, surfing the channels for something to watch.
He pats the bed next to him and I roll my eyes as I laugh and climb in. This is quickly becoming our tradition before bedtime and I actually do enjoy it. I mean hey, movies, sleep and Liam isn’t that bad to look at.
“What are you looking at,” he cocks his eyebrow playfully as he looks over at me. Glancing at the tv, I see he’s chosen The Hangover for tonight.
“Liam, it’s 2:50 in the morning. Can we just go to sleep?” I ask.
Liam studies me and reaches behind him, handing me a black elastic.
“For your hair,” he states.
Shaking my head, I gather my hair into a bun and he reaches over and tucks the fly away strands behind my ear. He hesitates a moment before tracing my profile with his finger, his eyes resting on the scratch on my face.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” He presses.
“Liam, I’m fine. I’m just sleepy.” I yawn as I speak.
