"No news is good news."
That's the saying. That's the way people choose to live their lives and that's fine for them. In this line of business, no news means something has gone completely, horribly, terribly wrong and to be quite honest, it makes me nervous...
I've seen Liam and Aubri, try and somewhat fail to keep hidden from the paps. It's laughable that the girl manages to stay hidden better than he does and he's the one with the security detail. I thought I had glimpsed something the last time I saw her and my suspicions were correct- she's pregnant.
Sophia must've flipped her lid.
...Which is why no news isn't a good thing for me. Sitting out on the terrace, a few homes down from Aubri and Liam, I quietly observe her exiting the place, a baby on her hip as she locks the house door before starting on down the stairs, most likely heading to visit the child's mother at work.
I've got her daily movements down to a science. At about 7 in the morning, either her friend, Harlee or Harry, who is making no real attempt to hide that this is his child; drop the little boy, Fletcher off, placing him directly in either Liam's or Aubri's arms before heading off to work or studio, depending on which parent it is. Aubri usually takes over, having play time in the yard or baby crafts in their den which happens to be located in the living room, which is directly in my line of sight, eventhough they have blinds up.
After lunch and naptime, she walks to the train and heads to meet Harlee at Starbucks, where they get their drinks and chat, mostly fawn over the growing little boy and they part ways to head home. I count to five before locking up my own apartment and following Aubri to the train, I don't get off at the stop she does, hoping to beat she and Harlee to Starbucks to get a good seat to observe.
The popular coffee is fairly full of people coming from work and needing their coffee fix. Quickly scanning the area, I grab a lone seat in a far corner of the establishment, allowing myself the perfect vantage point of the whole place. I tie my hair up into a bun, mostly to blend in with the school girls that crowd the chairs around me and adjust my Ray Bans on my face, when the small chime on the door goes off and sure enough, in walks Aubri, Harlee and baby Fletcher.
Aubri's baby bump is noticebaly bigger and the light from outside glints off of her wedding rings, making me all the more glad i'm wearing shades. They order and Harlee stays at the counter, waiting for the order as Aubri and Fletcher sit down. I'm just about ready to look away when I notice a woman sitting at a table by the door watching them intently. So intently that it's a wonder they don't feel eyes on them.
Her eyes.
They get their drinks and socialize and leave, the woman's eyes still on them and I cannot believe my vantage spot to take it all in. After the two women and baby leave, I see Sophia smile at something in her bag and a glint catches the shades she's wearing. She pulls out a baby onesie and refolds it before placing it in the bag and I'm momentarily wondering why she has clothes for a baby in her bag.
The only baby around is Fletch-... Oh. Sh'it.
A cold, grim chill creeps up my spine as I start to figure out what the glint was off of Sophia's glasses and the sizing of the baby items she has in her bag.
She's officially gone mad.
Waiting for her to leave, I make the pretense of casually strolling out behind her, pulling my hoodie over my head, grateful for the chilly fall nights. She walks to her car and deposits her hangbag inside before walking into a baby store, her wallet in hand.
Looking around, I quickly once over the car, peering in the windows and the grim feeling settles in my stomach. Resting in the passenger's seat-
What to expect when you're expecting.
She's trying to take a baby.
