*Chapter Twenty Two*
(*‘-‘*) Annie's POV:
“No.” I answered.
“Yes.” He responded with a smile.
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No, I won’t.”
“Yes, you will.”
In case you’re wondering what we are doing, let me explain a few things. After escaping the school grounds, we went to Vincent’s car which was hidden behind the school and away from public view. He then drove us to a nearby diner. It was a small one that served hamburgers and fries even after eight o’clock. He said it was his favorite spot to eat and so he took me there.
Now going back to where we were, Vincent and I were arguing. He told me that he will give the necklace back but in exchange for something. Wanna know what? Well, this jerk of a lemon told me that I will have my precious jewelry back if and ONLY if I treat this dinner as a date. Our first one, at that.
“Hell to the no.” I crossed my arms. “I’d rather eat dust.”
“Well, eventually you’ll have to say ‘yes’ to get this little trinket back.” He smirked at me. Great! He totally planned this out! Take Annie’s necklace to blackmail her into a date. The nerve of this person!
“Hello there you two love birds, may I take your order?” A woman in a blue waitress uniform came to our table and asked. Love birds? Love birds?! I opened my mouth to correct her but Vincent already began,
“What’s the special for tonight, Betty?” He smiled at her. How did he know her name? I looked at her for a nameplate but couldn’t find any.
“Oh, Vince! I didn’t know it was you sitting there. This is the first time I saw you with a girl here. You usually have Raven here.” She remarked and looked at me, “Must be a really nice girl, I can tell.”
I looked down in embarrassment. I have no say in this. I just can’t. Where is my underground hole again?
“Thanks.” Vincent responded. I looked up to see him smirking at me. I swear, if I have the right opening, I’d snap his neck and throw him in the river. No one would suspect a thing. Bwahaha!
“Well, we have your usual fave. It’s tonight’s special too. You girlfriend will definitely like it.” Betty smiled at me again.
“Great. We’ll have it.” Vincent said and patted my head, “She’s pretty shy, don’t you think?”
“Yes. And very pretty too.” She said as she wrote down our order in her notepad. Now, ladies and gentlemen, this is how Anthony is positioned tonight in this small diner. Her head is hiding under the table. That is how embarrassed she is right now.
“Nope. She’s beautiful.” Vincent answered. I felt myself choke. He did not just say that. I put my head back above the table and stole a glance from him. He was whispering something to Betty and I felt a small pang of jealousy. Not because of what they were doing, but about how close they were. I wonder if there will ever come a time when Vincent and I will be talking like that and not throw dirt at one another. There will be! When pigs fly that is.
