*Chapter Twenty Six*
(*‘-‘*) Annie's POV:
“Can you take me to the hospital?” I asked Raven once he was seated inside the car. After the event back in the locker room, we directly went to the parking lot to go home. We didn’t get to catch up with Marzia since she already left for another business matter. Come to think of it, she always does. I was planning to go to the hospital today so that I could ask my mom about the sealing. I hope Raven would let me.
“Is something wrong? Did your father’s condition worsened?” Raven asked with deep concern as he started the car.
“Not really.” I responded, making sure that he gets the idea that I didn’t want to talk about it. He took a glimpse of his rearview mirror to begin backing out.
“Okay then. If you say so, Annie. I won’t mind. Which hospital was it again?” He asked as he drove out of the parking lot.
“St. Monica’s.” I answered. My mind was focused on the scenery outside as usual.
“St. Monica Hospital?” He repeated.
“Yeah.” My head turned to him. Does he know how to go there?
“That’s the hospital where Vincent’s parents are working.” He suddenly shared, “He sometimes visits them so maybe you’ll see him there.”
Too late. I already did. Before.
“His parents told me that he only visits for two reasons.”
Two reasons?
“When he has a question and when he misses them. His parents aren’t always with him so he tends to feel lonely and stuff. But then, he’s got us.” Raven smiled at what he said, “There’s just something weird about his dad though. Vincent is closer to him than to his mom.”
Vincent’s dad? Al the cardiologist? “Al?”
“Oh, you’ve met him?” Raven took a glance from me and looked back to the road.
“Yeah, he seems okay.” I shrugged. There’s nothing wrong with Al except for the fact that he looks so much like Vincent. So much that it could actually be a bit creepy after all. But he’s nice and such a gentleman to me. Something that Vincent doesn’t usually show much. Raven laughed weakly in my side. Am I missing something? There’s definitely nothing wrong with Vincent’s dad.
We reached the hospital in less than ten minutes which is a good thing. Raven wanted to accompany me inside but I told him I’d be fine.
“Thanks for the offer though.” I said as he slid the car door open and ushered me out.
“You sure?” He asked for one last time. The door closed slowly as he pushed it. His car wobbled a bit because of the impact.
“Pretty sure.” I answered and gave him another soft peck on the cheek. A smile crept up his face when I did. He leaned forward and kissed my forehead. I suppose our first kiss won’t be happening any time soon, no matter how much I want it to. He walked back to the driver seat and waved goodbye before going in. I bent down so that he could see me through the mirror and waved back.
