*Chapter Six*
(*‘-‘*) Annie's POV:
“Hold on. Hold on.” Quest said, waving her hands up and down.
She was smiling widely at my unusual enthusiasm. We were sitting on the garden bench situated outside and I had just finished telling her everything. I was feeling remarkably happy inside and she knows why. I was even swinging my feet to and fro because of it. I nodded at her, motioning her to continue and she did.
“You have feelings for Raven? The guy you just met yesterday? May I even add that he’s one of your worst enemy’s best friends? What happened, girl? I thought you said you were gonna ‘persuade’ him. It seems that you are now the one being persuaded.” Quest finished her statement with a laugh. I shook my head hard, so hard that it might even fall off from its place.
“Correction. I said ‘crush’, okay? It’s different. And didn’t I also say that I am not sure yet. Who knows? It might be just some passing fancy.” I shrugged and stopped swinging my feet. I thought about what I just said. Yeah. It might definitely be just some passing fancy or fling. I never felt love in my whole Gypsy life before. Heck. I never even felt how it is to have a crush. Therefore, all of this seems new to me. I feel like a newborn baby; ignorant and innocent to the world of love.
“That still sounds the same for me.” She replied. The school bell suddenly rang signaling the start of the dreaded hours of class. She stood up and pulled me up to my feet, “Let’s continue the conversation later.”
“I concur.” I said as we started our way towards our classroom. I held my bag closer to me and felt for the vial. I have to make everything ready in time for our dodge ball battle later on after recess. Vincent will never expect a thing.
When we got inside our room, the class representative, Crissa Evergreen, begins to take the attendance for the day.
“Raven Ashburne?” Crissa spoke out. Raven? Oh. So his last name is ‘Ashburne’, huh? Wow. Anthony Ashburne. Hmmm… It doesn’t sound bad at all.
I didn’t know what came over me but I turned at my back to look at him. When I did, my eyes didn’t land on Raven. Instead, it landed on the one sitting beside him, Vincent. I mentally kicked myself for doing that. Vincent was looking at me with his eyebrow raised. He looked mad that I turned to look at Raven. Geez. What a selfish guy. He doesn’t even want me to look at his friend. I ignored his glare though and insisted on turning to look at Raven.
“Here, Crissa!” Raven answered cheerfully. Crissa replied with a nod and checked his attendance. She continued on the next person. I continued looking at Raven. I was afraid that he would melt. I looked like some lovesick puppy. I decided to look away but then Raven suddenly turned his gaze on me. I smiled sheepishly at him. I hope he didn’t see me stare at him. He responded with a wave and huge smile. My heart stopped for a moment there. I waved at him too but quickly averted my eyes because of the nervousness. I was trembling with excitement.
Raven Ashburne just looked at me. He smiled and waved at me too. My heart was becoming jumpy at the thought. With Raven in my life, I feel like I’m in heaven!
“Vincent Basch?” Crissa said without looking up from the attendance book. Sweet lemons… The dreaded Vincent Basch… I looked up and turned my head to Vincent. He was glaring at me. Again. Well, what else is new anyway?
