The finale…
And so, the curtains close…
*Chapter Thirty Five*
(*‘-‘*) Annie's POV:
I didn’t know how long I was standing there. I don’t seem interested and motivated enough to know. I was leaning on the railing of the balcony. Thank goodness, my eyes weren’t red or puffy. A sigh of relief went out from my lips. Get going, Annie. Move your lazy butt and do what you have to do. I lifted my gaze up to look at Vincent, expecting more heart break but then, my heart stopped beating for a second when I saw him.
His eyes were already on me. He whispered something into Quest’s ear. Crack, well there goes a crack in my heart. Quest smiled at him warmly after that. Crack, another darn crack. Quest gave him a quick peck on the cheek. Crack, if this goes on, I’m going to break down. Vincent nodded at her and she walked away from him. Wait… what?
What happened there? Why is he walking towards me? Maybe I’m dreaming. I looked away and closed my eyes. He’ll go away, I’m sure of it.
“Hey.” His voice sent a chill down my back. I peeled one eye open and saw him standing in front of me. I opened both eyes and looked around. Where’s Quest? Shouldn’t she be here?
“I’m right here, Anthony.” He sounded annoyed. I lifted my head up at him. He looks so hot in that black suit. I didn’t notice his red necktie last time.
“Where’s your girlfriend?” I asked cautiously.
“Girlfriend?” he sounded taken a back. Wait. Isn’t Quest his girlfriend? She did mention about them dating.
“Quest. Where is she?”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Now he sounded angry. Wrong line.
“I mean… you guys are dating, right?”
“Hell no. Who told you that?”
“She said-”
“We’re not dating. She’s not my girlfriend. I’m just her escort for tonight.” He explained rather rudely. I see. I put my head down in embarrassment. Great. I started on the wrong foot. Good job, Annie, good job.
“Talk to me, Anthony.” Now he was pleading. Okay. Now this is weird.
“Nice suit.” I began, “You hardly look like a jerk in that.”
He chuckled at what I said, “Thanks. I’ll take that as a compliment.”
“It was.” I cleared out.
“Whatever.” He shrugged then he looked at me. He eyed me up and down and smiled, “You look perfect.”
I scoffed at him, “There’s no such thing as perfect.”
He then went beside me and leaned at the railing. He placed his arms on top of it. He looks so cool, “In my world, there is. And in that world, it’s you.”
I blushed at what he said. My hands were shaking. I’m going crazy! My heart was beating so hard in my chest. It might even burst out right now! How do you breathe again? Was it inhale then exhale or was it the other way around? Oh gawd, I forgot. Shoot.
