*Chapter Eighteen*
(*‘-‘*) Annie's POV:
Dad always said that when a guy brings you breakfast, then he likes you. But when a guy cooks you breakfast, marry him on the spot. But then, there’s no need to be so impatient. Time will tell when the two of you can truly be together. It always does.
“So he drove you to school after that.” Quest finished. I was telling her the story of how my knight in the shiniest armor came to my castle and made me a banquet. And I tell you, I didn’t exaggerate any detail at all. I mean, okay. I did, a bit.
“Yup.” I answered cheerfully as I took out my books from my locker. I made sure that I have the vial with me. This is more important than anything else in my bag. Well, perhaps except my chemistry book. Other than that, nothing else.
“I’m happy for the two of you. I really am.” Quest leaned on her locker room, “After all those years of matching two people together, someone has finally given you your very own match.”
I nodded in agreement. I totally deserve a break and blissfully, my break is Raven. A smile crept up as I thought about it.
“Hey Annie.” Quest suddenly spoke up. Her voice sounded low and sad. This is another one of her weird mood swings. I turned my attention at her and asked sympathetically,
“Something wrong, Quest?”
She fidgeted when she took her phone out from her bag. Her head was down so I couldn’t really see her face. “About that number that you gave him.”
She looked up and continued, “Are you sure that you gave it to Vince? I mean, I trust you and all but then…” Her voice died there and it didn’t take me any second to realize that something was wrong.
“Yes. I was able to give it to him.” I said in a reassuring tone. I’m pretty sure I did. Vincent even replied. Wait… What did he do now? I mentally punched him in my mind. With a brass knuckle. In the eye.
“Well, I received a message this morning from an unknown number and I know that it’s from him.” She showed me her phone. True enough, there was that message.
Good morning, pretty lady. :J
There it is again. His signature smirk.
“Uh-huh. And?” I motioned her to continue.
“I sent him a reply but he didn’t send back any in return.” She finished with a sigh. That’s it? That is it? I was kind of expecting something more but oh well.
“Maybe he’s busy or he didn’t get to read your message.” I closed my locker door. It was a signal to tell her that we’re ready to go out. I heard her laugh nervously and it made me shiver.
“You’re right, Annie.” She placed her phone back in her bag. I tried to analyze the whole situation. Sure, Vincent really did kept his side of the deal when I told him to send Quest a message every single day but… hold up, rewind!
“Fine, fine. I won’t. But you have to promise me that you have to text her every single day.”
“Why the heck would I do that? But this deal might be fun. So, okay, I’ll agree to that. If I give her a text a day, it won’t hurt you, right?”
