*Chapter Twenty One*
(*‘-‘*) Annie's POV:
Okay…
I won’t lie. Heck. Why would I? It’s already nearing 7:30 pm. The school looks scary at night. Like, really REALLY scary. And I don’t mean kindergarten scary. You know what I mean?
Remember back in kindergarten when your jealous dumb-butt classmates would scare you about telling a teacher something that you did wrong like writing on the board without permission or even poking them lightly on the back. Those annoying high-pitched shrieks of ‘Teacher, teacher, (Insert your awesome name here and what you did)’. I mean, honestly now, you always have that mini heart attack just by the mention of the word ‘teacher’.
That’s kindergarten scary. Now, this, my friend, is not some ‘kindergarten scary’. It is no way near that level of scary. This is holy-sweet-lemon-I-think-I-heard-something scary. The one that makes you feel like you’re being watched and make you want to pee in your pants every five seconds. Yes, that scary type of sweet lemons.
I was about to go towards the main gate but then I suddenly remembered the time. It’s almost quarter to eight and students should not be seen hanging around the school area during this time most especially if they were told to go home early. I wonder if the meeting is still ongoing or not. Either way, I’m still going in to retrieve my necklace.
I went around the school and decided to look for an entrance. On the right side of the school grounds, an opening was found. There, between a few shrubs and bushes, a small space was visible. Given my stature, I could definitely fit through there. The entrance leads to the school garden. Total jackpot! Just the place I need to be.
The place wasn’t filled with roving guards. Thank goodness for that. So, you see, entering the school is a piece of ice cream cake. Sweet lemons! I just realized how dangerous our school can be when it comes to breaking in.
Being the ninja kid I am, I sneakily went towards the bushes and went in through the small opening. It was painful since some twigs brushed past my arms and face. I also felt some thorns here and there but nothing too much of a big deal.
I poked my head in and looked around. Still no sign of guards. Yay! My lucky day! I could literally do a happy dance but that can wait till later when I have finally found my necklace. I pushed myself in and got inside the school garden. Where am I exactly? Oh look! There’s that big tree. Now I know where I am.
My brain suddenly began to have a frenzy of ‘what if’s. What if a guard will see me? What if a ghost will scare me to death? What if I’d get expelled because of this? What if I’ll never have a chance of entering college ever again? Or worst, what if I’ll never find the necklace? Sweet lemons, I need to fix my priorities.
As I was searching around for the jewelry, I was bending down as I did. Since I am wearing quite a colorful tee today, I can easily be spotted 30 meters away. So yeah, I better try my best not to let anyone catch my attention. Where should I look first? The first thing that came to my mind was the garbage bags. Gross… But it’s my only hope.
I spotted the black garbage bags beside the big tree. Sad to say, no one cared enough to put them in the back of the building where all the trash bags are supposed to be placed. Let’s do this, Annie. Let’s just get this over with so that you can go home and eat Chinese food. And pizza. Great, I almost forgot about pizza.
