At fist, Remus was afraid to even breathe. He looked down at the boy laying on the dark wooden floor, legs and arms sticking out to different directions. He looked at Sirius' closed eyes, hoping that he would open them and laugh, tell them he hadn't hit his head and passed out.
And he did.
A bright, beautiful, bark-like laugh bubbled out of his mout as he opened his eyes, and Remus couldn't help but laugh too. Sirius Black's laugh, it was like sunlight for Remus. You can live without it, barely, but when you hear it first time after a long time, you feel the kind of happiness that's hard to describe.
"One hell of a first kiss, I'd say."
The tall boy smirked as he walked down to the common room and helped Sirius up.
"I'm... I..."
He stuttered as Remus grabbed his wrist and pulled him back on his feet.
"You all right?"
"I'm sorry..."
His laugh had faded, and in a couple of seconds it was so far gone Remus wondered if it had ever even been there.
"About what?"
Remus sat down on the sofa, leaving the place next to him perfectly empty for Sirius to sit down.
"That. I mean, it's... it's complicated. At home, I mean, my dad... he'd kill me if he knew."
Sirius' voice was serious and quiet, he was scared. The way he said 'he'd kill me' made Remus' feel sick, because Sirius was right. Orion would most likely actually kill him.
They were both silent again, Sirius sat down.
"We could find a way to hide this from him... I mean, if you want this to..."
Remus started, and suddenly he just wasn't capable to look into the shorter boy's eyes.
"...If you want this to be a thing..."At that moment, Sirius felt like he was both the luckiest boy breathing, and also the most scared. A little smile crept on his lips.
"I... I'd like that... I mean if you..."
His words blurred into an unreadable mess in a way that made Remus chucle.
The tall boy didn't have to say a word, he just smiled. That smile said more than a thousand words, it made Sirius to feel like it was all going to be okay. The whole thing was extremely awkward, a little embarassing and scary. But in a way that kind of erased all of the bad parts from itself, leaving only the warmth and tickling feeling in their stomachs, the excitement.
Still, somewhere deep under that glowing smile, was still the same broken Sirius. And Remus, though he had forgotten it for a little passing moment, was still the big bad wolf.
