Astronomy class had just ended, the last one before Christmas break. James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were walking trough the snowy castle yard, as a familiar and quite unfriendly and disgustingly blonde figure blocked their path.
"There they are, the faggots."
Lucius murmured, sounding so very pleased with himself as he saw the rage lit up in James' hazel eyes.
"Go to hell, Malfoy."
Sirius muttered, not caring about the consequences. Not even thinking about them, really.
"What did you say, huh? Hell? Ain't that the place where you gay people go when you die?"
The seventh year boy shoved his elbow in between Sirius' ribs, but the younger boy didn't even shiver. There was something really wrong with him inside, as he found himself enjoying the pain. It easied the one inside of his head and heart.
"What makes you think that any of us is gay? It's not like you hang out with anyone else than your dumb cocksucker squad, I think there's more proof on you being gay than any of us!"
Sirius just kept pushing it, not even noticing the terror in his friends' eyes. Peter wanted to turn into his rat form and flee, but instead just bit his lip and wished that Sirius would stop before it was too late.
Malfoy's gang was no longer making those "oooh" noises, now their faces looked furious as they squeezed their sausage like fingers into fists. And Lucius, for once he had nothing to say for a while.
"Cocksucker squad... wow, Black, I find myself impressed. You really have changed during the past few months."
He purred like a tall, smug, annoying looking cat. That was when Sirius just couldn't hold himself together any longer, and he just did what he had desired to do for such a long time.
He punched Lucius Malfoy in the face.
The pale boy's nose started to bleed as he made a bizarre noise, kind of a squeal and a cough blended together. And a rage, even stronger than the one in James, lit up in his steal gray eyes.
And he hit back.
And Sirius took the punches with a smile. One, two, three, four. He fell on his ass in the snow, lip split in two and both nostrils bursting with blood. Malfoy couldn't throw the fifth punch, as McGonagall's furious and worried scream filled the yard.
"MR MALFOY, IN MY OFFICE IMMEDIATELY!!"
"P-professor! But it was him, he started it!!!"
The blonde boy had lost every last bit of his credibility, as he stood there stuttering and stammering for his own defence.
"Mr Black, we'll discuss this later."
Minerva gave the bleeding boy a look, the one that said "This is your own doing, and you shall face the consequences even though you kind of did the right thing but as a teacher I can't play favourites."
That look was a lie. Minerva did, in fact, play favourites. She loved those four Gryffindor boys like they were her own.

"You all right?"
Remus knelt down on the snow as the situation cleared and Lucius had followed Minerva inside with his gang.
"Yeah. I'm splendid."
Sirius muttered, wiping off some of the blood to the sleeve of his uniform.
"That was fucking savage, man!"
James laughed. Peter smiled a little, glad that Sirius was okay after all.
"Don't ever fucking do that again, okay, that scared the shit out of me!"
Remus said as he helped his boyfriend up.
"Here, take some snow you dumb little fuck, so your face won't swell like a balloon."
James had picked some snow and wrapped it inside of his Gryffindor scarf.
"Thanks mum."
Sirius mumbled, spitting some blood on the ground. It was nothing serious, just a few bruises. His nose didn't even break, so apparently the "so scary dick-tator Malfoy" had the weakest punch in the entire school.

Sirius was smiling, as they walked inside to lunch. He was smiling as he sat down, as he heard every student from every table whispering about the grand fight of Black and Malfoy, making it sound like something way bigger and fancier than it was.
And what it was, Sirius was pleased with it too. He had punched Lucius fucking Malfoy in the face, even possibly broken his nose! It would have been one if his proudest moments ever, only if he hadn't known what would happen the next day.

Next day, it was the day he was going home to 12 Grimmauld Place for Christmas.
It was the day that would trigger the chain of events leading to the grand finale. It was the day he had feared to come ever since he stood his feet on the Hogwarts Express in last September.
