The morning sun rose, to reveal a teenage boy laying on his back in the fresh snow. Naked, frostbitten and covered in his own blood. Bruised and broken. Asleep and cold.
His skin had deep, long slashes on it, his old scars looked active and painful as well. And his wrists, they were broken. He had struggled out of the rusty shackles."Remus!! Remus!!"
A familiar voice yelled for him, somewhere behind the leafless trees. Running steps thumped in the snow.
"Remus!!"
The voice got closer. It was Sirius, he hadn't slept all night. And now, as he ran in the forest at six in the morning, he was kind of glad he hadn't. At first, he had obivously went to the Shack, but as the shackles were broken on the floor covered in blood, he had hurried to the forbidden forest. Following the creature's footsteps almost impossible to spot from the fresh now that had fallen on them.
It was a beautiful morning. Sunny.
"Here!!! JAMES HE'S HERE!!!"
Sirius yelled from the top of his lungs, falling on his knees in the snow and laying his fingers on the naked boy's neck. He found a pulse, quite weak and uneven one. And he took the planket that he had carried within his jacket all morning just to keep it warm, wrapped it around his boyfriend's ice cold body and pulled him against his chest. Remus' eyes were still closed, he was barely breathing.
An enormous stag rushed trough the bushes, breaking the silence. James had heard Sirius' call. The animal took two long gasps of the chilly air, creating clouds of warm fume out of his big nostrils.
"Why are you just standing there Prongs, fucking do something!!"
Sirius' voice was tense and cold as he tried to lift the tall boy up from the ground. James huffed, leaning down next to his two friends. Sirius struggled to get Remus up on the animagi's back, but he finally succeeded. Remus' pale legs were falling off of James' other side, and Sirius had to climb up to the stag's back too to keep him still.
"Don't run, James, for Merlin's sake don't run! Remember last year when you did, it was a bloody catastrophe!"
James did an eyeroll, though nobody could see. He was a bit fed up of not being able to talk as a stag, not being able to say all those witty comments about the situations the boys always got themselves into.
It was quiet again, as Sirius held Remus on his arms while they approached the castle slowly on James' back. It must have looked quite majestic, too bad nobody was up that early to see it."Oh dear, come on boys, bring him here!!"
Madam Pomfrey hadn't been expecting Remus to be unconsicous, she ran trough the hospital wing with a pair of nurses in her trail.
"He was in the snow, we don't know for how long... will he be okay?!"
Sirius helped James to set the cold boy on one of the hospital beds. James was almost naked too, now back in his human form. Too busy fussing over Remus to snap at Sirius for being annoying earlier.
"He's fine. His wrists seem to be broken... what in the world happened last night?!"
Pomfrey's voice was snappy and high as she covered the teenager with a planket and started to wrap his wrists into a tight, neat bandage.
"He must have broken the shackles. I mean, he couldn't have reached the key, and there was nobody around to help him..."
James was calm, he spoke silently so the other nurses or patients wouldn't hear, as Pomfrey was the only one to know about Remus' furry little problem. Sirius instead wasn't calm at all, the long haired boy was so worried his whole body was trembling.
"Brackium Emendo!"
Pomfrey flicked her wand at the boy's wrists, they made an odd kind of cracking noise as they fixed themselves. Remus' eyes flew open, pupils contacted of the bright sunlight.
"Are you in pain?! Remus, does it hurt?!"
Sirius fussed, wrapping his hand quickly around his boyfriend's body.
"What- jesus Pads, I'm... I'm fine..."
He sounded kind of confused, releved.
Peter finally ran trough the hospital wing, a pile of sandwiches wrapped in a napkin on his hands. It was a tradition, every morning after full moon the chubby boy would go to breakfast early while Sirius and James were off to find Remus, and then around seven thirty he'd find them from the hospital wing and give them breakfast. He always had a chocolate bar in his pocket for Remus, he really needed to make an effort not to eat it himself. Peter waddled funnily as he ran, making Remus smile a bit. Seemingly last night hadn't been just as bad as it had seemed. Remus had passed out because of exhaustion, and there were no new scars so bad that a bandaid and a little bit of chocolate wouldn't heal them. For a moment, all was well.
