When I woke, I found my bedroom door open. I had been released. But now I didn't feel like moving. My ankle still throbbed. I slowly got out of bed and carefully took a step. Pain screamed up my leg. "Crap," I sighed, closing my eyes.
"Good morn....," Dad stopped by the foot of my bed and frowned at me, "What happened to you?"
I sighed heavily, "Let's just say I fell out of bed," I smiled.
"Your foot?" he pointed.
I shook my head, "My ankle."
He clicked his tongue, "Those are delicate bones." He kneeled down infront of me and felt my ankle.
"You sound like a doctor," I gasped and jerked my foot from him.
He leaned his forearm on his knee, "I was a doctor a long time ago."
"So it's broke?" I winced.
He shook his head, "No," he sighed regretfully, "It's completely healed."
"But I can't...."
"Healed back wrong," he winced, "Sorry Son." He reached for my foot again.
"Wait a minute!" I yelped and hopped back a step.
"I'll do it fast. Don't worry," he smiled and pushed me back in the bed.
"What? Wait! What are you gonna....?" I tried to squirm from his grip, but I heard a snap and cried out as white hot pain seared through my ankle. I closed my eyes tight and gripped the covers, just before I lost consciousness.

"Of all the insane ideas of my life!" Anna snapped.
"It's no big deal, Sis," Allan laughed, "I've had Michael reset plenty of my bones."
"And I suppose you do too?" she snapped at someone else.
Prince Nigel's voice was low and stern, "We have all benefited from Michael's experience. It was war back in my day. Vampire hunters everywhere."
"Life is war, Father," Allan said, "Let me know when the kid wakes up so I can make fun of him," he called out and I heard the door shut.
"Still mad at me, my Queen?" Michael laughed.
I opened my eyes and she fell to my side, "Oh Marcus, you're alright!"
"Michael broke his ankle, not his neck," Lord Nigel spoke from a chair by the fire, laughter in his voice but not on his face.
"Oh shut up, Father!" she frowned at him, then smiled at me, "Tell me you're alright."
"I'm fine," I laughed at her. Michael had leaned his hips against the vanity and crossed his arms over his chest. "So will I be alright now?" I smiled at him.
He nodded, "As far as your ankle goes; yes. I think we need to talk about your growing power though."
"What power?" I frowned.
"There's broken glass in your room," Prince Nigel started, his voice soft but firm.
"Broken glass?" I whispered and looked at Dad.
"You raised your voice when I broke your ankle," Dad nodded, "It happened in the car and now here."
"You're getting stronger, Marcus," Anna smiled at me, her violet eyes dancing.
"Is that a bad thing?" I looked at Prince Nigel.
He shrugged and sat up, resting his elbows on his knees. He smiled suddenly, "It depends on what you do with that power."
"Well I don't plan on taking over the world," I rolled my eyes. "I mean, I'm new. I don't even know what I'm capable of," I shook my head, then added hastily, "My Lord."
He smiled broadly and slowly stood up, "I would like to know what you're capable of." He looked at Dad, "He needs to hunt."
"Yes, my Lord," he nodded and looked at me, "Can you walk?"
"I'm not sure," I sighed.
