I drained the body of blood, then dropped it on the floor. A surge of power pulsed through my veins. I could hear Amanda fighting with someone upstairs. I could hear people fighting outside. The vampire hit Allan and he stumbled back. I went over and grabbed the vampire by the neck. I snapped bone and tossed him away. Another man ran up to me and hit me across the back. I turned around and hit the man in the jaw. I bent down and picked up Allan.
He stood on his feet and smiled, "Thanks. Hey," he frowned at me, "are you okay?"
"Fine," I said in an unfamiliar voice and went upstairs.
Ella threw Amanda across the room, "Pretty brave for one so young," Ella laughed and waved a knife at her, "There is no one to save you, Youngling," she laughed.
Amanda moaned from her place on the floor, raising up on one hand. She looked up at Ella and said angrily, "I hope my Father kills you!" then she spit a mouthful of blood at Ella.
"Father?" Ella snarled, stepping back a step.
I walked further into the room and in a strong voice, growled, "Yes. Leave her alone!" I heard the deep timber of my voice and the low growl under the human tone. It was a new voice that I had never heard before coming from me.
Ella looked over at me and laughed, "Well, I see you have embraced ALL of your powers," Ella pointed her knife at me, then bounced it to the other hand, "You are now The Vampire Extraordinaire that all of our people are talking about," she laughed, "You should thank me."
"Not likely," I shook my head.
"See for yourself," she lowered her knife and pointed at the mirror on the wall, next to me. I frowned at her and she smiled, panting heavily, "No tricks. I want you to see what you have become; thanks to me."
I looked in the mirror. My eyes were a jeweled, dark red and my fangs were past my bottom lip. My arms and chest looked bigger. The wounds she had inflicted were gone. Power seemed to radiate from me.
"Leave with me," she urged in a whisper, "With your power, we would rule the countryside together," she shook her head, "There would be no Houses, only YOU." Her eyes flickered with delight as one of her men snuck into the room.
"Marcus," Amanda moaned.
"Quiet!" I snapped at her and told Ella. "I won't do that," I shook my head.
"Marcus!" Allan yelled.
I reached out and caught the attacking vampire by the neck, as he fell against me, while I stared at Ella. I squeezed his neck and he tried to pull free. I raised him off his feet by stretching out my arm and shoved him back. He landed against the wall and crumpled to the floor. I smiled at Ella, "You won't rule anything."
She held out her arms in surrender and curtsied, "Then I will be the Bride at your side, my Lord."
"Marcus," Allan urged. I broke my gaze from Ella and looked down at the floor.
"She's bad," Allan held Amanda in his lap and put his hand over Amanda's stomach.
A window crashed behind us and I saw Ella jump out of it. I ran to the window and watched her run into the night. "Damn!" I cursed and punched the window frame. The wood splintered and more glass broke.
"Marcus!" Allan called and I ran over to them. He jerked off his flannel shirt and balled it up. He put it on her stomach and whispered, "It's okay. You're okay. Don't die!"
I knelt down and smiled at her. Amanda groaned and pressed Allan's hand tighter to her stomach. "Geez, I really messed up," she looked up at me.
"Amanda," I whispered and my voice still held the deep timber, but had lost its ferociousness. She moaned and leaned forward, over her stomach. She panted and looked over at the window, "She got away."
"She got away," I shrugged.
Her eyes held mine, "Couldn't you get her to stay until more help arrived?"
I smiled, "Someone distracted me." I looked up at Allan.
"You have to help her, Dude," he shook his head.
"Why don't you do that?" I laughed and he looked at me with wide eyes. "She only needs blood," I shrugged.
"I usually only do this in emergencies," he pulled her close and looked at me, "Guess this counts." Amanda moaned and sunk her fangs into his neck. She took deep draws and Allan winced.
"Enough," I thunked my finger on her shoulder and she released him.
"Marcus!" Nigel yelled from the doorway as he and other men ran into the house.
"Here Granddad," I said and stood up from behind the couch.
"Marcus!" he sighed and turned to the men, "I want this house thoroughly searched. Kill most, leave me three."
"Yes Sire!" the men spoke together and ran off in different directions.
I went to the window and starred down the street. There was no sign of her.
"Are you alright?" he stood next to me and spoke softly.
"I'll be fine," I laughed and looked at him.
Nigel took a step back, "What did she do to you?" he whispered.
"Nothing. This is who I am now," I looked back out the window, "Do you think Anna can still love me now that I've become this MONSTER?" my voice growled the last word and Nigel jumped with a start. I laughed sorrowfully, Ella had damaged me beyond recognition. How could my family love me now?
"I think she will come around. It will just take time getting used to it," Nigel said gently and I looked at him. He smiled tightly, "Can you control it? Turn it down, possibly?" he took a step back.
I took a step sideways and punched the wall three times. My hand crashed through the plaster each time. I wiggled my undamaged fingers and smiled, "Nope."
"Are you dangerous, Son?" he asked, bravely straightening his spine.
"I look more dangerous than I am," I laughed.
"Do you need a doctor?" he took a step closer to me, "Blood? What can I do?"
I looked down at my feet, then up at him, "I've been held prisoner and tortured for two nights," I shrugged, "I'm not sure."
"We'll get you home," he smiled and walked away from me.
I never felt more lonely in my whole, miserable life.
