Elaine and her friends, bought endless rounds of drinks. Allan and I would sip, then pour our beers into someone elses glass. They laughed and sang until 2 am, never noticing that Allan and I were not drinking.

Elaine's friend, Christine, drove us to Elaine's house on the beach. "We'll be back," Elaine giggled, took her friends hand and pulled her into the bedroom.

"I wonder what they're doing," Allan said softly and walked over to the fireplace.

I listened for a moment and smiled, "Fighting over us and taking pills."

"You can hear them?" he frowned at me as he flipped a switch. The fire jumped to life and I nodded. He laughed, "Man you're stronger than I am."

"That reminds me. Don't kill them," I urged.

"They're your friends, Kid," he shrugged, "I know."

"Is it possible for Vampires to have Human friends?" I fell onto the couch.

"I had a Human friend once," he looked at the fire, "I killed him."

"Why?" I gasped.

"Oh!" Christine ran out of the bedroom and went to the fireplace.

"You like that?" Allan smiled down at her.

She slowly put her arm around his waist and said softly, "I know the warmth I'd like better."

"Well," he laughed and kissed her gently.

I rolled my eyes at Elaine as she sat next to me on the couch. "I haven't seen you in a while," she said and laid against my side. I put my arm behind her and she kissed me. "I thought after you broke Bobby's jaw, that you'd never be back," she pouted and put her hand in my hair.

A sudden pang of guilt struck me. I thought about Anna. I couldn't do this anymore. "I'll be back," I stood up, "Bathroom?" I pointed to her bedroom.

"Yeah," she nodded.

I ran off and Allan laughed, "The kid never was a drinker."

"Thanks," I mumbled as I slammed the bathroom door.  I looked around the bathroom. What was I going to do?

Elaine stumbled into the bedroom, laughing, "Mouthwash is in the cabinet," she announced.

I flushed the toilet,"Thanks!" I said and washed my mouth out with the green liquid. I spat and washed my hands. I came out of the bathroom and smiled at her, "I'm embarrassed."

She waved her hand, "Don't be. I think it's sweet." She dropped the last of her clothes on the floor and held her hand out to me, "Come here," she smiled seductively.

I dutifully went into her arms and warned, "I'm not sure if I...."

"Relax," she sighed and kissed my lips.

"I just...." I broke the kiss before it got to deep.

"Shush," she whispered near my ear and kissed my neck. I sighed heavily and took her into my arms. I nuzzled her ear and ran my tongue down her neck. "Oh Marcus," she moaned and clung to me. My fangs pierced her neck and I sucked quickly. When her body went limp, I carried her to her bed. I gently tucked her in. I felt her slow pulse and smiled at myself. She would be fine. My hunger abated, but not satisfied.

I went to the balcony door and slid it open. A heavy breeze pushed my hair back over my shoulders and rolled the waves towards me. They were light blue and crashed to the gray shoreline, then retreated back to the black waters. The moon was full and shone in the sky, burning a trail across the waters. Elaine's neighbors had a party and the orange coals blinked on the ground as people in sleeping bags dozed. It was all so beautiful, that I wondered what it looked like during the day.

"Well," Allan panted from behind me and I jumped.

I turned to him. His shirt and jeans were open and a thin sheen of sweat marked his hair line. He leaned on the balcony rail and panted, glaring at me. "Have a good time?" I laughed.

"That was a waist of a fine young body," he sighed and buttoned his pants.

Panic shook me. "You didn't..." I gasped.

"No," he said on a moan, as he buttoned his shirt, "Neither one of my hungers was satisfied tonight."

"We'll find something," I laughed and he nodded.

**************************

We went to the other side of town and found a victim. Allan bit her first then gave her to me. I bit the other side of her neck and drained her of her blood. "Marcus," Allan started and looked down the alley.

I nodded, "I hear them."

"Who the hell...?"

I shook my head, "Punk kids."

He took her body from me, "Get rid of them," he told me and carried her away.

I walked down the alley and ordered, "Alright. Get out here."

Two boys fell out into the light and one smiled at me, "Hello Sire." My eyes twitched at the title.

"Sire," the other one started, "we was watching you in that bar and we was wondering if you could take us with you."

"What's this?" Allan walked up from behind me and the boys eyes widened.

I looked at Allan and smiled. He was fully restored to his old self. The scars had disappeared and he no longer walked with a limp. It even seemed as if he grew an inch or two.

I pointed at them, "They want to go with us."

"Where?" he frowned and put his hands on his hips.

"You're vampires," one boy whispered in awe.

My eyes cut to him, "What do you know about that?" I snapped.

"Nothing!" he held up his hands.

"We want to join you," the other one said.

I looked at Allan and he shrugged, "Dad could always use another guard," his voice lowered, "and so could you."

"I don't know how to change anybody," I said quickly.

"Well," he shrugged, "I think you could leave them in human form for now."

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the boy pull a wooden stake from the inside of his jacket. "Allan!" I gasped and caught the boys wrist.

"What the hell?" he gasped, took the other boy by the collar and tossed him away.

I broke the boys wrist and hit him in the chest, breaking bones. He gasped and fell into a dead heap at my feet. I looked around and saw Allan looking through his assailant's pockets. "What are you doing?" I hissed.

He pointed at the boy at my feet, "Find out who these guys are."

"Okay," I shrugged and rummaged through his pockets. I found loose change, crumpled bills and a gun. I looked at his wallet and opened it. I studied the ID, "It says Jonathan Laker." I shrugged, "I don't know who the hell..."

Allan walked up to me and held out a paper, "We're getting you home right now."

I stared at the wanted poster in his hand. I took it and stood up, "That's me!" I gasped and looked at Allan.

He nodded and pointed to the kid at my feet, "Vampire hunters," he panted.

"Vampire hunters?" I gasped.

He nodded and looked around us, "Let's get you home now!"
